Hi, the dash lights on my SL320 are pretty dim even when fully turned up - I've heard that you can replace these fairly easily with a more bright LED bulb - anyone know what bulbs I'd need to use and how many?

Thanks

Maybe there's a problem with the dimmer? Obviously it's a bit subjective, but mine are quite bright when turned up.

T10's and normal park bulbs
I did it on my w140, had them blue, red and now green.
Fairly easy job

Does the dimmer still work OK with LEDs in?

Thanks Borys, I watched a video on how to replace them and it looks almost too easy (just need the tools). I've put T10 LED into ebay and it's returned these:

2 X 501 W5W T10 6 LED XENON WHITE DASH WEDGE BULBS | eBay

Are these the right ones? How many bulbs are behind the dash?

Bill - to your point, the dimmer is working but the illumination seems really weak, reading another forum I think it can be quite common on the R129 - hoping this will be a quick and noticeable fix!

Sorry m8 not the t10 - t5's they need to be.Two of those will go where millage and trip display is and normal side light led 4 of for guages.
Get some spares.
Tip for side light bulbs they work only one way,so don't get scared when U put bulb in and it won't work-other way around.
Don't put speedo back in untill your are sure all in working order

I'm not as sad as I thought I was as I didn't do a before and after photo shoot! I did change the main bulbs with 12v 5w bulbs (standard is 2w) though and there is a significant improvement in the dash display... about 3w I reckon :)
