SL350 (R231) Manual Opening Boot Using Gas Struts

Have just fitted replacement 560N and it has made a little improvement, however the bootlid only pops up 1cm still upon the key - Should it pop open more?

and then is still fairly 'heavy' to lift up. alot better than before, but I would imagine it to be a 1 handed job?

The plus side, the lid stays put at whichever postion it sits at now.
This is exactly the same as mine now I've fitted the new struts, previously it wouldn't stay put at any point ang gently closed itself.

Mine is also much easier to open, but I have to say, I would have thought it still should be easier, maybe the 620N ones are the way to go.

Surely 540n isnt as powerful as the 0620n?
That's right, the car came with 620 and I replaced them with the 540 not realising till after I'd got then that mine were different. The old ones (640) are back on. One thing I did notice though with the new 540 ones, although the boot wouldn't fall down like it did it also struggled to go up to full height to activate the folded roof; I had to push it up quite forcibly to get it high enough.
Still have an almost brand new pair of 540's for sale if anyone wants them......

Shame neither of you are closer to me, you could have tried my 620 and see if they're better on the carbon boot lid.

Cheers for that; but to be fair for the cost of them, once they are available again I might just order a pair anyway.
I didn't see any for the 231 with a higher rating? Don't suppose you have a link do you?

I have just dropped them an email asking if they recommend anything as an updated/more powerful version for the SL.
