SL55 AMG V8 Kompressor

7.7 vs 6.2. But I guess your saving on diesel.

So not really considerable in real world driving conditions? ;)

Next year I will be picking up either an E63 or E55 as a third to the fleet though

Is there something about this car that "the market" doesn't like? :wallbash:

As others have said, the well known problems , Suspension, Brake system , roof seals etc put a lot of people off, hence the market value. It’s a complicated car with a lot of things that can go wrong and with age probably will. So running an SL55 is potentially going to be costly experience hence a lot of folk will not consider one. Parts may be affordable but when you add on labour repairs start to look costly.

A friend had one of the first ones in black with red leather, fantastic looking and sounding car It turned out to be his last Merc (after being a big fan and owning several) due to the car being in the garage. “a lot” and pretty poor service from the dealership to rectify the problems. If I’d a bigger garage and deeper pockets I’d love one , preferably titanium with black or red leather. ;)

I have owned far more expensive cars. The SL55 has cost me £4000 over 4 years and that's because I have insisted that anything suspicious gets changed. Find a reliable Indy as I have and labour charges are way way less than those insane main dealers.
For what it delivers - this car is one of the best I have owned.

So why are you selling it then? I don’t see why you are repeatedly trying to persuade us that your car is worth more than it is? :dk::doh:

If you like it so much keep it and enjoy it. :)

If it were me with that SL if you have the means to I'd wrap her up for a few years.. buy something unless you already have other cars that you equally enjoy and wait and see..

I'm in two minds to sell. One minute I want to keep it, the next...I want to move to another I have had my eye on for a while - the F type R.
Never been like this with cars. Once I decide to sell - it's gone! Strange.

I am pretty much like that to and have sold some really nice cars I regret letting go.

Me personally, I wouldn't give it away for 13k or 16k or whatever the offer is. Alot of car. Ok its knocking on but looks well looked after.. I sold a E46 M3 SMG 2.. granted low miles and clean 7 years ago the value has doubled and there wasn't a clue that a mass produced M car that in terms I guess is a more modern classic to go that way.

You may well regret it... btw will you take £6,900? ;)

Love the F Type R. Had the pleasure of a Jaguar/EVO day at Millbrook a few years ago Racing them around the alpine circuit. Then standing 1/4 upto 130mph. Then a little coned circular test to show their clever diff.

Cracking fun and a lovely noise. Drove the S/C Coupe and R Coupe & Convertible. Very nice.

I’m in the market for a low mileage SL55 but in silver to match my other Merc. So I’m out.
This is going to be an interesting project ;)

I've gorn orf the SL - the n/a SLK 55 is a much better car for what I want my convertible toy for, and not much slower than the SL55 - and will be even less so with a £300 remap. EBay still notifies me of new listings, and with the approach of better weather the silly asking prices are rising, but the overpriced cars still don't sell. If the 'market value' of the OP's is only £6800, that's a bit of a clue as to why...

So far as "rear window/boot seals/PSE pump failures/ABC issues etc having all been fettled out of the system over time (and) it would be sheer bad luck to experience one of these 'inherited problems", don't you believe it. In the year before I bought my 2005 SL500, in August last year on 111K miles, the previous owner had spent over £5k on the ABC and SBC systems, and I've just had to get the rear window seal done. Thankfully, the roof works fine - touch wood... I've enquired after a few, and almost my first question has been: "Is there anything in the service history showing work done on the ABC, SBC or roof seals?"

If I was still after one, and the OP was asking £14K for his, I'd seriously consider buying it; it looks good, and has had a lot of the 'inherited problems' sorted. I suspect many of those that are cheaper than that will need a fair amount spending to bring them up to snuff.

One of the best driver feedback cars ever: E46 M3.
SLK55 - lovely car for a WAG or hairdresser:oops:.
Maybe IF...IF I see an F Type R at a good price I can offset that against the SL55 and drop this too. BUT it would have to go to someone who knows and appreciates these types of cars. Couldn't bear to see it go to the average punter:eek:.

Good luck

I'd really love another SL55 as didn't have the first one very long. I'd really really love it.....I'll give you a fiver [emoji6]

Much superior to an R230 in the handling department. Much less prone to expensive problems. Much less likely to remain unsold for months because of optimistic pricing. ;)

Value is subjective anyway.

No one can say what something is worth from anything other than their own perspective.

You can price a car up at £1 but if no one wants to buy it - it's not worth £1.

Supply and demand.

In the case of the SL55, there's lots of supply, but not it would seem matched by demand. That couldn't possibly be down to optimistic pricing, could it?
