Hi All
I am new to this forum, so a big HELLO to all..
I am in Melbourne, Australia, and I am seriously looking at an SL 60 AMG. There are only 3 in the country, and this one is a beauty..
13,000 KMS, midnight blue Black interior, pristine condition, Panoramic roof...
I am trying to get as much info as possible...reviews etc...
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated...
:)

Welcome to the forum, all the way from downunder!

You'll be glad to know that at least one member on this forum currently has an SL60, and others will probably have had exposure to them. Sorry i can't be more help but i thought i'd say Hi anyway, so you know you're in the right place. :)

Welcome. Being 1 of 3 in the country that should make it special enough

Very nice.

One of the last ever made - I dread to think how much they want for it - $AU 100k? Servicing / parts could be a bit of a problem as well in Australia - as are the speed limits :(

That looks lovely! :)

Apart from querying the ultra low mileage.

Although the SL60 is an AMG model, it had the standard SL suspension unless you paid extra for the AMG parts (or the much more expensive adaptive damping). So it'd be useful to know what options this car has ... you can find out via the VIN/chassis number if you can get this.

I am not certain that the car is only one of 3 as there was at least one other brought in as personal property when an owner moved to Australia from England.

The VIN and compliance plate should be some indication that the car was originally sold here or not. Thus it is priced according to its age or mileage and usually in the second hand market the greater takes precedence. So it is valued according to its age.

With fuel prices I think the idea of ownership is quite a luxury .... Melbourne has some of the most restrictive speed limits in Australia. 44KM/H in a 40 zone will get you a nice fat ticket.

Hi LewisJ

I am fortunate enough to have had an SL60 for the last 18 months or so. In that time I've actually had 2 cars (the first one I had was stolen in the summer). Both were low mileage 1997 cars. The first was 30k miles, the second 24Kmiles.
I am a very big fan of these cars. You get all the SL luxury plus that very very powerful torquey AMG V8 - the perfect combination!!

Fortunately, neither of the cars I have owned have given me any problems whatsoever. Virtually all the parts are standard SL500 (depending on the spec of your car) and the engine is very similar to the standard MB 5litre V8, so is pretty bulletproof.

Over here these cars hold their value pretty well now, given that they have already lost about 75-80% of their original cost.

BUY IT !!!!

If you don't, you will be forever sick that you missed the opportunity....
ps how much are they asking for it?

You took the very words right out of my mouth. From the few pictures you have posted the car looks immaculate.

If the price is right, go for it.

John

Am I the only one who finds it a bit weird that the car has apparently only done 8,000 miles?

oh please. Shude, you really do lower the tone.
