May I ask why prefacelift ?

i prefer the look and honesty of the prefacelift car. it was how sacco designed them and not with a quick update to move with the times that the 96 cars have.
I believe the first of (original ) x and y is always more impressive and collectable than the last of a model. maybe Im old before my time... My bmw z1 was the inside the first 500 made on a 1989 build sheet. my 500sl is 87th RHD off the factory line

Mine's one of the last few made and is an R reg.

I got my hands on an azurite blue sl60 pre facelift

Nearly 1 year on and absolutely delighted with the SL60.
its quick and really is a Corvette in noise and driving feel. It does handle with more composure than my early 500sl and the torque and pull in 3rd and 4th reveal the circa 80hp more.



Observations,
my 1995 is a correct factory and UK delivered SL60
It is the 4 speed auto which is lazier than the 5 speed facelifted car but I don't mind.
the facelifted cars- there are more of them than prefacelifts! still to be verified by Mercedes but possibly only 8 right hand drive pre facelifts out of the 49 RHD made.
As most will note, kids these days have no idea what it is.
Not to be confused with the 500sl 6l cars that Germany and Japan got back in in 1992-4. These cars are not sl60's! Its amazing how much Fake news is on these forums and so called aficionados do not know what cars were made and when.

Mine does have a naughty AMG back box (correct period exhaust) with resonator removed so its enough to cause yobs in c63s to look back in amazement...
the only other external mod for the Factory SL60 when they were first launched by Mercedes was with or without the bodykit. Mine has purely the duck tail. I know of a azurite blue with grey leather than also purely came from the factory with the duck tail also, albeit I believe mine was added later.
the Early cars also came with the Aero 11 3 piece 17inch bolted split rims by OZ racing. What a wheel this is!

Ive enjoyed a couple of quick runs against some others, a friend in a r35 gtr and he couldn't get over the pace of the sl60. That kind of sums up the car for me. Its a hooligan and a brute yet still looks elegant and I would argue fairly subtle

Those that have a good memory will remember the Autocar roadtest in 1995 which had a red sl60 reg M365LNH as the press car. it actually had the full amg kit and I notice its still wearing this reg plate, I wonder if anyone on here owns it?

Not to be confused with the 500sl 6l cars that Germany and Japan got back in in 1992-4. These cars are not sl60's! Its amazing how much Fake news is on these forums and so called aficionados do not know what cars were made and when.

What fake news would that be? Designations change (as they did in the normal Mercedes range) but they're still a 6 litre M119 under the bonnet.
