Hi everybody,

I recently got an SLK. Thanks for all the advice to-date. Somebody along the line said 'be patient and the right one will come along'. They were right.

I picked up a private facelifted 30K miles, silver 230, automatic which is immaculate and hasn't been smoked in (as far as I can tell). As part of the deal, one of the AMG alloys was treated for corrosion by Pristine in Milton Keynes. Superb; the wheel is like brand new after being treated by their diamond cutting service. Very impressed with the Mercedes Audio 10 single cd player; apparently it's made my Becker GmbH. It's got an absolutely cracking sound!

I've had it about 3 weeks and had it A serviced by a specialist in London (1/2 the price of a MB dealer). I've noticed since I got it that the BAS/EPS orange warning is on more/less all the time on the dash on the right-hand side. I've looked in the user's manual and wondered if anybody else has experienced this and is there anything to worry about. If needs be, I'll take the car back down to the people in London.

Now, I actually look forward to getting into it for the short drive to work; when I get there, I don't want to get out!

Thanks,

bernie

Hi there, congrats on the purchase and thanks for sharing your experience. A few thoughts on your experience so far;

1 - the BAS/EPS light shouldn't be on by norm, but its worth checking in the manual to see how severe the fault is. If anything, give the dealer or the independant, a call and they'll probably be able to point you in the right direction.

2 - the Audio10 is indeed made my Becker. I believe some of the Audio10's may even have been made my Alpine. Its probably been discussed at some point in this forum, so definately worth checking up via the search feature.

3 - If you've had a good or bad experience with a dealer or independant its always worth writing a little something about it. We're always on the look out for people who go above and beyond the call of duty, or even those who don't match up to your expectations. There is a section for specialists across the UK, with London pretty well covered. BUT, you never know, you may have found a gem hiding away in some corner of this town. If you get a chance, search the section or write up your own experiences to help others. :) the link ishere!

Finally, you'll probably find that you've posted this in the wrong section, but don't worry you'll get used to the layout of this forum. Expect one of the mods to move this pretty soon :)

if your cruise control is not working either, then you probably have the 'famous' brake switch problem ... do a search on the forum and there will be lots of threads.

the switch is about £15 and easy to replace if you know how .. it's supposed to be in the space above the driver's footwell

Sounds like a nice car. How much did you pick it up for?

I just bought an imaculate W REG SLK too.
