slk230 central locking

hi need some help i've just bought a 1999 slk230 which the cental locking doesn't work when you press the buttons on the remote both of them the lights flash on car and dash but locking doesnt work neither does the button inside the car work interior light works as it should with door open any help be appreciated and location of any items i need to look at

I expect the PSE pump is faulty or a wiring fault. It is located in the spare wheel well on the right side covered in foam.

Check the plugs on there as they tend to corrode.

Of course check the fuses first.

I have much the same problem on my SLK 230 from year 2000. My remote always works to open the car but only intermittently to close it. Is this a central locking problem of the remote - have installed new batteries in the remote and reset several times but problem persists.
So I need to go to Mercedes to have the computer reset or can this be done at my local garage - if of course this is what I need to do. Help please!
