Slk250cdi

I have a 15 plate 250 CDI AMG sport . I was told before I bought by members of the Slk forum that the early diesels were noisy and that after Aug 2012 some top end work was done and the car was a lot quieter . Mine is very quiet , and pulls like a train fast enough for me seriously good for overtaking with great economy . Mine has a pan roof , mirror pack folding mirrors , I see them as a must if you keep it in a garage as its quite wide . Partronic front and rear also essential . And other bits and bobs . Really is a good car , if you find a late 12 or early 13 without a pano roof you might be able to take out the liner and replace with a trim . As the pano roof was concealed , later they blacked out the glass so there was no point doing it , cost about £250 .

Michael.

The injector issue seems to affect pre 63 plate cars and should have been put right at service time by mb.
Mine was 62 plate and had injectors replaced while on other warranty repair. I wasn't told about it until car was delivered back.

That's my summary of 2 years ownership from 2012 to 2014.

Summary after 2 years lease of SLK 250CDI AMG, UK. - Mercedes Benz SLK Forum

Most used cars are ex-leasing cars with very poor spec. You have to look for ex-privately owned cars to get some options.

Hi Michael, thanks for your thoughts,I am a member of the slk forum and for the reasons you have mentioned am looking for a 2013> with air scarf!parktronic and glass roof-the reason the late cars have concealed glass roofs is the early models had problems with the roof seals failing on the metal roofed models, cheers,Steve

Hi,thanks for your feedback,as you mentioned, all the cars available at the moment with the spec we want are 1 private owner vehicles, looking for post 2013 as they we're built with different injectors and are quiter I'm told.

I would suggest to anyone looking to buy an SLK to try a Boxster before making their final decision. If your looking for a sports roadster the Boxster is an order of magnitude better in every respect, but if your looking for a cruiser then the SLK is a good choice. Horses for courses......but do try one

Boaters defiantly the drivers car but the slk is more suited to the mrs and no diesel box ter, thanks for your thoughts.

Not all lease cars are base spec. MY 15 SLK is a lease car and I speced up airscarf, heated seats, parktronic and the Bekker sat nav module. Just a few extra pounds per month, but a much nicer car. :)

Mine had some options but it was still poor spec. Halogen lights are very poor if someone is driving a lot after dark.

"AMG body kit, black ash wood, analogue clock, heated seats, airscarf, rain sensing wipers, remote roof opening, aluminium brushed headers, etc. I missed a bit electric folding mirrors and dimming rear view mirror."

If I was going to get another one, I would want one with xenons and some more options.

Agree about halogens, used slk250 cdi's with xenons are very rare though.....

I owned a 12 reg 250 CDi slk Bengal red Nappa , air scarf, smoked glass roof , memory seats,Becker pilot, lovely, had it for two and half years, 28000 mls no problems, took it all over Europe, well most of it three times, great torquey engine, some days up to 700 MLS average speed 68 MPH, 2 up plus luggage, 48 MPG.great little touring roadster, only sold it when we needed extra seat for granddaughter. Try one, warm it up and give it some wellie, you won't be disappointed. Oh, forgot to mention it was in Palladium Silver.

Being a pre 2013 model did you find the engine noisy?

Lewyboy, it was said to be noisy on start up , not that I really noticed, and once underway settled down, but not something to make a fuss over, had I not read about it I woudny have thought so, I had a 250 c a mg CDi before and was no different.

Thanks Peter, it's a sports car after all so a little noise shouldn't be a massive issue.
