SLS Production Begins...

I sat in one of these at the weekend when I went to AMG - absolutely stunning and THE car I would get at present over anything else.

I did rather hope I'd get my lift back to the airport in one but alas, I was taken in the new E63 AMG :p

I wouldnt worry, I still havent seen an SLR in the wild!

go down to The Bishops Avenue in Highgate, on average i see 5+ on the driveways there.

my friend lives at #15 and #13, and they have 1 on each driveway, one in black and one in silver....

black one's reg i think was X1 SLR

There are two chrome SLRs in the area aswell..

one of the nicest moments i had seen on bishops avenue though was a collection of i think 7 or 8 red ferraris, parked side by side on someones driveway, backs against the wall, facing the road and each one had a unique and fairly well synchronized array of private reg.....

:o
I was not keen on the SLS looking at the pics .. the rear looked wrong, it sort of seem to be squashed.

There is an SLS (in white) at Brooklands, and also at Motorexpo in Canary Wharf (in black) .. have seen both.

SLS is stunning in the metal .. the rear is just lovely, in perfect proportion and with the most elegant lines around the rear arch. The long long bonnet just shouts supercar.

I love it.

Trouble is, in my spec, it's about £165,000!!

You know, that is a funny thing that you should mention. I was a little scathing of the look of the new "E Class" Cabs. From the pictures they looked just plain awful from the three quarter position backwards. Last week I was in Perth WA, and Myers had them on display in the Murray Street Mall branch.

THEY ACTUALLY LOOKED QUITE NICE IN THE FLESH!! :o

Thing is these things will retain value for at least 18 months so getting one now is (in real terms) not that expensive if you can fund it to start with.

10% deposit is £15k then maybe £1500 a month if you negotiated right and sold after 6 months (and had a low apr) I bet you could run it for not much as you would get all your money back for the deposit and maybe a bit more besides - ie less in real terms than a normal car E63 / C63

Then again I could be talking bow locks

I haven't had time to inspect the black one at Canary Wharf yet, but from 18 floors up it looks cool, gullwing door just are the dogs - even the Bristol Fighter looks alright. Most of the other stuff there looks pretty dopey.
