Smell inside cabin

( i have searched but couldnt find anything similar)..

I have an odd smell coming in from somewhere..
( no its not my feet hasten to add

When i use the heating system or air con, this smell covers the cabin, not always and sometimes every 4th or 5th time. however, its a bad smell, and i wonderd if its "usual" or could be a potenital long term or serious problem.

could it be air or cabin filter perhaps?

this is my first diesel car and wondered if its that..

the car is a c220 tdi, 2003

You might need new filter and make sure the water drains are clear.

Bacteria builds up on the AC system.

Try the anti bacterial spray 1st.

Halfords do one, made by 'Comma'

Its like a hand grenade, you move your drivers seat forward, place it in the rear footwell, break the switch and quickly shut the door until its completely emptied itself (10mins later).

Once its set you cant stop it!
