Hi all

Could anyone give rough diagnostics and how to go forward ?

I have 2005 s211 280 cdi with 160,000 on the clock

Lumpy idling
Lots white smoke after 5-10 mins of being stationary with bad fuel smell
Occasional stuttering under full throttle
Occasional bad cold start

Thanks for any help

Have you checked all the usual things, air and fuel filter, maf sensor, fuel quality and any simple things that you can think off.

Thats the thing had service end last year new fuel filter ect and was fine for couple of weeks !

Had air filters at beginning of last year worth checking again??

Would MAF senior come up on diagnostics? Have had no check engine light come up !

Thanks

If it's white smoke it's likely to be turbo related, oil seal?

Another possible cause could be a defective fuel injector and raw unburned fuel entering the exhaust.

Star would be the best course I would think.

There are other possibilities, such as coolant entering the cylinders (head gasket) but we won't go there as you say there is a strong smell of fuel.
