After one small & cheap advert I sold my faithful E200 auto to the first viewer, I was happy to sell, got my time and value out of it but on the other hand I was sorry to see it go - I've a few fond memories of the car.

So, I did a bit of totting up on costs & deprecation. I did 55k miles in it over 30 months and excluding petrol, road tax & insurance, total cost was only about £800. Now, I'm wondering why I sold it! Typical. No, it was time for it to go if I'm being honest with myself and I happily replaced it with two cars, a W202 & a Honda. The Honda will be the beater and the 202 a small project for the forth coming long warm & dry summer days!

Anyway, what ever people think of 210's, bar minor rust they are a bloody good car even in 2.0lt form and should not be dismissed as a purchase even if time is catching up a little bit on them. If there's anybody out there considering one, go for it I say.

Ha I just bought one and collecting it tomorrow. It's an E320. It's going to be the workhorse for family and work!

I view it last week, it got a couple of rust spots just back of the rear doors, so should able to save it before it get any worst.

Yep - W210s are great cars - aside from cosmetic rust which really isn't a major issue at this price point :)

I think my 1999 E320T has cost about £200-300 in total over ~ 2 year use - good value motoring in anyone's book :thumb:

A 320, now that's proper motoring actually it's almost a completely different car compared to the 200. Enjoy.

Another 320! Good on you. Good chance too if I had purchased a 320 I'd still have it...Honda Accord's are great but it's like apples & oranges. Life! :D

Mine has been uniformly superb (bar the ride on sports suspension, but others are far more tolerant), a 320 cdi. Immensely torquey, slick box and surprisingly economical, it has not been cheap (aircon) but now done I reckon it has a good 500,000 miles in it.

All these 320's what was I thinking.... :D Sounds like a good one there Charles.

This one is a petrol. We had the same engine in the CLK before so I know it's going to be reliable (famous last words).

The Honda accords are good cars, there 4 pot engines are one of the best. A friend of mine got one for years, his not known for mechanical sympathy and his accord have no complaint what so ever, also they are pretty good fun to drive too. So it's not all bad!

W2, you mean....... Vtec YO! :ban: :D
Once the engine is warm, it's bloody simple to hit the red line, as sweet as they come.

Oh yes!

And sadly Vtec engine days are numbered, with ever tighter emission these engine will be gone for ever. So rev the nuts of it as much as you can I say....

I very nearly bought an Accord V-Tec at the turn of the century. I remember the test drive well, drove out of the dealership with salesman in tow and on to a local dual carriageway. I was completely underwhelmed by the experience, hard plastics, average interior and, well, just not that fast. "You're driving it all wrong'" says the dealer, "change up later." I tried a couple more times but still kept shifting too early, eventually I hit the magic point on the rev counter and the thing went bloody bonkers!

Intoxicating.

I had a few more goes on the test drive. Ultimately it was a bit of a one trick pony but, man, what a trick :D

Yes, a fair comment. But I find it an easy engine to live with overall. It's honestly jewel like, then again I'm a Honda fan. Even out lawn mower will start on the 3rd pull after four months of just sitting in a shed! :D

I had a new Accord in 1991 and got rid six months later, which is the shortest I've kept any brand new car.
The interior was OK, the ride and handling dangerous.

I'm not really knocking the Accord, but it wasn't for me.

I'd hate to hear what you had to say about a car that you were knocking.

Ha.
Seriously, the ride was hard with very short travel, but grip in even slightly damp conditions was shockingly poor.
Once me and the now Mrs Dm were traveling with other traffic along B road that snaked along and nearly didn't make it round one of the bends, where all the other cars had no issue.

There may have been something uniquely wrong with your Accord. I had an '93 (in '97?) also a 4th Gen model, 2.0lt man and was very happy with handling & road holding, no doubt partly to do with the double w/bone set up alround. The short travel you mentioned strikes a cord and maybe the steering was touch light but that's about it from memory. Horse for courses & all that.

Actually, I was sorry I didn't bid on a one owner low mileage 2.2 Vtec man, 4 wheel steer with all the bells & whistles a couple of months ago. Good cars no doubt.

Not quite an Accord, but my Honda Odyssey MPV, based on the 5th generation rides and handles very competently indeed. That's compared to the Grand Voyager, Sharan and Previa we've had previously.
