MB C200 Kompressor S/W
A year ago I bought a Demonstration (2009) C200 Kompressor SWagon in Stuttgart. I am a retired female with absolutely no interest in cars other than to get from A to B. I never even looked in the boot, and when I had a puncture I was appalled to find this teeny hairspray can and no spare. I live in Portugal where the roads are horrific and have since had two more punctures and have now written off three tyres. My local MB dealer wants a thousand euros to reconfigure the boot for a spare. What about those little thin tyres you can run on for a few K? Can anyone help me here who has dealt with this problem? Thanks. greenhart

its a "space saver spare wheel" there's a few on ebay, prices range from £30-£75

I suggest asking your dealer for a space saver wheel and probably the wheel bolts too.

Anyone made the change from space saver to can of gunk?

I've considered it a few times.. But never gotten around to it.

I have. Reason being the car (not the CLK, the S-Type) has a gas conversion which was on it when I brought it and the gas tank is were the spare should. Only a space saver but takes up most of the boot. The boot's nearly as small as the CLK!! Touch wood I've not had to use the can yet!!I don't do a lot of mileage so fingers crossed!

Mazza you are a star, many thanks. Will try that part number which is presumably for the space saver wheel...someone told me that the nuts & bolts on these don't match with the car - a C200, (2009) -. How can I be sure before I go shopping on EBay? Sorry to be so clueless - I really appreciate this help and the forum. Thanks, greenhart

Sp!ke hi -- the reason I'm on this site is that the MB dealers both here in Portugal and the one in Stuttgart from which I bought the car haven't come up with a solution. Portugal wants me to spend a thousand euros rebuilding the boot, and Stuttgart is dragging his feet despite three emails - seemingly he cannot find a solution. I cannot be the only person who wants a proper spare in my boot not some pump-in glop. All help gratefully received. Greenhart
