Anyone know a good, reliable Mercedes specialist in the Northamptonshire area? It would help if they're cheap as well; mine is 190E 1.8 (91) so she really isn't worth steep labour costs.

I guess that is matter for further debate. I have found that a lot of tasks are reasonably simple at home. But it depends on what you wish to achieve. Good luck on the search though.

There's a guy in Wellingborough who has lots of older Mercedes outside his garage, he's supposed to be OK but I don't know. I'll try to find out more. Is that anywhere near you Hellme?

I will be doing a lot of the work at home. I'll be changing everything from spark plugs to water pump (if I manage to find it!).

My only problem is that I can't seem to pinpoint what the problem is with certain things. The only way out is either to take it to a mechanic or have someone who knows this model take a look at it.

If you guys care to help, I can run down the problems and maybe you can give me pointers. I posted on another forum and didn't get any response.

And yes, Wellingborough is fine. I'd appreciate any more informatio you can get me Simon.

In case you were wondering, I'd not forgotten you. Unfortunately I can't find out about this garage because the person who told me has left work and isn't returning. I think its on the way out of town (old road) towards Thrapston way, fairly noticeable by all the old Mercedes outside.

Yes, I passed it today, it is next to Croyland Motors, opposite Toyo tyres. I'm not so sure he services cars, looks more like a breakers yard.
