In 1988 I had a MK2 XR2 but I yearned for a MK1 Escort Turbo like this:-
I always wanted one of the rare Vauxhall Viva HC 4-door saloons with a 2.3 OHC 'slant 4' (110 bhp) under the bonnet rather than the normal 1100 or 1300. Nearest I got was an 1800, which still used to take people by surprise
Did it take you by surprise when it started on a damp morning !I always wanted one of the rare Vauxhall Viva HC 4-door saloons with a 2.3 OHC 'slant 4' (110 bhp) under the bonnet rather than the normal 1100 or 1300. Nearest I got was an 1800, which still used to take people by surprise
If performance Vivas or Firenzas are your thing then the Dropsnoot is the one to have. A snip at £6K....
No, it was a great car actually! I had an 1100 Viva before that (also an HC) which was also very reliable, albeit a bit of a handful in the wet on cross-ply tyres!Did it take you by surprise when it started on a damp morning !

Ford : original S1 RS Turbo
I had one, followed by a 3 door Cosworth. All by the age of 23. Obviously I was still living at home with no kids!!
Reason I ask my father had a Viva and if there was any damp in the air it would not start , if it was raining he would not even bother going out to it he would just walk to work or get a lift,it was that predictable. Then he bought an Austin Princess 2200HLS dont ask !!!No, it was a great car actually!
