sprinter 311 ecu replacement

hi got start error on dash
been told could be ecu , wsp or key
if i was to replace the three, ie taken of a van that is working
will this work - some people say it will need to be reprogrammed, some say it will be ok and work fine,
please could i have some adice on this please
there is also an item on ebay that says that they can fix the ecu if it is sent of to them, is this possible

hey mate, im sorry but im too late, iv just posted about this, a bloke called dean does start error, his company is on the web williamsdiesels.com. he did my cdi in newcastle which needed a ecu and wsp acordin to mercs, he did it in their car park £300
