W124 Superturbodiesel and a 1952 John Deere G. Lots of old bikes too.
There was a rattle from under the bonnet and i thought somethings loose there. Too right! the cast bracket on the PAS pump is cracked at both the mounting bolt holes!!!!

What are my options? will a w210 pump fit as '606 124's are a little scarce? or weld the old one up? or hang out for a ebay job?

I think the steering pump would be the same on any w124. The only variances are the pumps on cars with the rear sls and/or asd. You should be able to find a donor from an e320 saloon that would be the same part number as an e300d saloon.

Put up your model/year/estate or saloon and whether you have sls and/or asd and I'm sure someone can give you an idea of the models you could source a use part from.

You could always try mercman or three pointed parts.

unfortunately different pumps on different years.

Morning, spoke to a specalist and he says that it is very likely that the pully tensioner has worn out and the vibrations have cracked the bracket, to be honest this sounds spot on as the belt has been making a noise at idle for some time... In fact I bought a damper for the job some time ago, not fitted.

I'll find out the part number thanks, dronsfields don't have one, checked this morning.

Cheers,

Max

You can fit any pump that has the same pressure. It's been a long time, but I think I recall the 606 engine having a 85bar pump?

Spot on JJ! 2 on ebay - same colour as mine! (pink...)

I have also ordered a tensioner arm, shaft and belt from Eurocarparts. I already have a damper in the garage ready.

Cheers folks
Max

Ohhhh hold on, one sold and the other has a crack in the mounting bracket...
Still hunting.
