Steering Wherl Controls Not Working

Hi all. I’m a newbie to the forum. I’ve got a Mercedes A Class Auto 2006 3dr Avantgarde 1.5 petrol W169. It was sat for a while. Got it started again. Battery all good. Just had new brakes and full service. Drives ok but the indicators, horn and full beam don’t work. My mechanic can’t reset the service light either as the other steering controls don’t work. Indicators come on ok when the hazards are turn on, though. Strange.

Can anyone shed some light on this (pardon the pun lol). Could it be a problem with the control module? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A diagnostic on Star would be helpful in finding if a specific module is at fault.

I thought that as well but usually with this fault would you have an Airbag warning light?

That would make sense as the airbag is only connected via the clock spring connector IIRC...he didnt say there WASNT an airbag light though worth a look anyway

Thank you. I’ll check that out. Could this still be the fault even if there is no airbag light on?

Or could it be the ignition relay?

I would suggest that you stop guessing (that's all we can really do) and get the car scanned (preferably with Star) to read the fault codes.

I’m gonna get it looked at tomorrow by an auto electrician.
