A birthday gift from her brother Paul. 43000 miles, stored for 14 years.

Those pop stars do tend to leave a trail of children behind them.

It’s a pity, because the mileage is low and the interior looks clean, but there must be a lot more to this story.

If you look at the photos, there’s quite a lot of body damage, and rust in places where you’d not expect for a car that appears to have been garaged (look at the colour of the needles in the instrument cluster)

It’s clearly had paint, I suspect that it’s had a knock on the front (panel gaps look strange, lacquer peel on the bonnet, there is signs of colour mismatch, front plate has been changed and I suspect that some flex has taken place for the rust on the ‘A’ pillars and the NS sill.

Could obviously do with some TLC, but might explain why it seemingly sold for a low price. My initial thought was someone had for a bargain, but on reflection there’s probably more to this car than the auction description perhaps suggests?

I owned a 1989 190e for 21 years. Given that car has external corrosion then there will almost certainly be some serious structural corrosion underneath that will cost £000's to put right. It wasn't worth £7000.

I have never got this "enhanced value by association." thing. Ownership is one thing but how many memorable songs has Stella McCartney written? :dk:

It done well getting £7k for it. It does like ripe for having an M113k engine transplanted into it

The corrosion at the bottom of the B pillar would be a no no for me.

Stella is successful in her own right.

It may be a lot for a 190 in poor shape but it’s much more affordable to buy this Stella McCartney car to go with a collection of Stella McCartney handbags, than it is to buy an Hermes car to go with a collection of Hermes bags!

With all the money in the world Sir Pauly Shore could have bought his daughter Stella a bad a$$ 190E 2.5 16V or a true 190E 3.2 AMG instead.
A standard 190E looks very boring with hubcaps.

It does make me chuckle when people assume just cause you’re wealthy you should be into cars. Maybe he didn’t care a jot which engine or ‘hubcaps’ (?) the car had. And maybe it’s nothing to do with how rich or poor he is/was? 🤷‍♂️

Depends on what you want it for.

A simple 190E was a discreet, safe and reliable form of transport back in the day. Not everyone wants showy or flash transport just because they have money :)

Perhaps it’s because him or his children aren’t show-offs or really care about flash motors.

still a boring car.

Why flash with money buying mansions private jets or cigarr boats?
Only the cool car is missing.

Paul perhaps spent his money on other things like buying expensive watches flashing them to people ???

....and she was only 21 at the time....probably didn't want her to kill herself!!!

A w201 specced with steels & trims and tex upholstery is pretty desirable nowadays. It could only get better if it was a 2.6 petrol or an indestructible 5 pot om602 diesel imho, oh and in a better colour. My personal fave... pearlgrau.

You’ve obviously never heard of the word ‘understated’. I’m a big fan of it and one grows up and matures you appreciate it more.
The days of the ‘look at me’ cars are long gone. My road is chock full of millionaires and apart from Ali G and his family with the Bentayga and a Range Rover, every house has a £30,000 or under Honda or similar. (Apart from the old doris with the Toyota Yaris GR, and even that’s been debadged)

When Paul McCartney was younger he had the fame, money and all the rest of it and he drove a Mini. 👍👍

Well my 190e had the the stock hub caps and I didn't get around to changing them in 21 years. I'll say this for them, they were 50 times easier and quicker to clean than alloy wheels and if you kerbed one they were cheap to replace. It's called fitness for purpose, which MB's were in those days.

Picture when is was approx. 20 years old.

I also had one of those in a identical colour for all of 4 hours. But it was hiding a m104 3.2 under the bonnet  It valiantly gave it's life so my blue black sport line could live !
