Stella McCartney's 190E sells for £7k

Looks far too expensive for what it is. The rust issues alone are a huge cost to rectify. I like Stella a lot, but not that much !

You’ve obviously never heard of the word ‘understated’. I’m a big fan of it and one grows up and matures you appreciate it more.
The days of the ‘look at me’ cars are long gone. My road is chock full of millionaires and apart from Ali G and his family with the Bentayga and a Range Rover, every house has a £30,000 or under Honda or similar. (Apart from the old doris with the Toyota Yaris GR, and even that’s been debadged)

When Paul McCartney was younger he had the fame, money and all the rest of it and he drove a Mini. 👍👍
Ah but to be fair it was a Radford Mini! Nought cooler in the 60’s.

I feel quite sorry for the person who has spaffed £7000 + fees on that car. No mention at all on the MOT of the rust on the near side lower B pillar, an area close to the passenger seat belt mounting point. An MOT fail i would imagine if weakened enough or holed. Wonder what condition the sill is under the near side sacco panel?

Well my 190e had the the stock hub caps and I didn't get around to changing them in 21 years. I'll say this for them, they were 50 times easier and quicker to clean than alloy wheels and if you kerbed one they were cheap to replace. It's called fitness for purpose, which MB's were in those days.

Picture when is was approx. 20 years old.

I think these are the best Mercedes designed wheel hubs ever!

The corrosion at the bottom of the B pillar would be a no no for me.

I would love the see the state of that sill with the cover removed! On the plus side you can buy galvanised sill panels for £120/pair which actually fit ok.

Mine has covered 180k, has been parked outside near near the coast most of its life but has only needed the rear sills and a small patch under the boot welded. I have kept it clean and waxoiled though… that’s more important than mileage!

Sad that car technical condition is bad. It can be much better.
From other side car was used as discreet daily driver car is more than 30 years old that condition expect from daily driver of that age in GB. Rust is a must.
If it was ford or vauxall most probably it was 20-15 years ago in scrapyard.

The ex McCartney w201 is back up on Autotrader again. Now at £15,900. Pesky inflation!
