Stereo advice needed please?

Hi Everyone
A colleague of mine is about to ditch his Audi (hoorah) for a 2009 CLK 220, he wants to remove the Audio 20 standard fit head unit and replace with a Sat Nav version. Is there any particular unit he should/shouldn't be looking for, is an interchange possible? He's looking at something like a 'Mercedes Benz CLK 05-11 W209 In Car DVD Sat Nav GPS MP3 iPod CD Double Din Unit'

I've already tried to get this topic going on here, as I have the same dilemma & intention to change.

I upgraded from Comand 2.0 to a nice Kenwood unit. But this was in a 208 not 209 so my experience doesn't really count, other than I have never looked back.
