This and that.
Is there such a thing as a self-adhesive pad or tape that only sticks to itself?

Velcro?

What's the application - might spark a few ideas!

Technically no as if it only sticks to itself you couldn't attach it anything else.
What items are you trying to stick together??

I've got a plastic disk that my satnav bracket can suction onto. It's supposed to be semi-permanently attached the the windscreen, but I want to mount it on the dash. It needs to be removable for use in our other cars, but when it's not in a car, I don't want the attachment point on the dash to get all clogged up with fluff (hence only sticking to itself).

I can't for the life of me work out why I didn't think of Velcro - I use it all over the place. :o

Can anyone think of anything that is more unobtrusive when not in use?

The Volvo's got a nice flat dash top and I was thinking of double-sided-sticky-taping a piece of plexiglass on there for the bracket to suction onto, but I don't want to do that in the Merc, cos it'll look crap, and I don't want to semi-permanently fix the black disc into the Merc, cos if I'm going to do that, I may as well leave a suction mark on the windscreen, and have the car broken into.

The tail is wagging the dog a bit on this one, but if the question can be thought of , there must be an answer :)

Black Velcro with the 'fluffy' side on the removable disk would probably be easiest, and wouldn't look too bad IMO. You know there are different 'grades' of Velcro, I use the strongest for holding battery packs in my r/c planes.

I'll try it then.

I didn't know there were different grades. Where can I get it from? I usually get if from Staples or somewhere...

One of the big DIY chains sells a good selection, Homebase I think.

You can get extra brackets/ connectors for various sta nav kits, my extra set cost approx £13.00 from a shop in Tottenham court road London, try seardhing on the web under mounting kits. Thought vecro attached with a hot glue gun should hold it, as double sided tape loosen in heat

But will the glue mark the dash?
