Sorry for the long post but i cant explain this in any less really.....
I have a very strange issue primarily with the SatNav in my SL. Its a 2005 model with the widescreen command and DVD based maps. Basically it shows that I have links to satellites but the map does not update my position, nor do the coordinates update as I move. Interestingly the map will rotate but only on the spot. Searching for locations still works and if I try to set a destination the audio and directions begin to play but from the location shown on the map, not my current location.
One thing to note which is even more odd, I have a 'SmartTV' module connected which allows the TV/DVD to play whilst moving. This morning i removed it to see it that had any effect, it didnt on the SatNav but did stop the dash from displaying information on the audio and satnav screens, it just displayed dashes '---' rather than 'Off' or 'Track1' etc. Also I could no longer use the volume control on the steering wheel. Even stranger is that the DVD would still play whilst moving, now that I dont understand.
I reconnected the SmartTV module and the volume controls etc came back. Still no SatNav though. Ive checked the wiring and it all looks good.
Any ideas ?
I have removed the DVD, started the car without it installed, re-inserted the DVD but when the system loads it still shows the same location.
Is there some kind of hard reset ? Should i disconnect the rear battery for a while ?
