Strange goings on (W202 C200)

Yesterday afternoon the car would not start, tried several times (working the gas pedal too) it was turning over but struggling to fire up the engine.
I thought it might have been the battery so tried to jump start it with neighbours car.. still no joy..
Later in the evening called the AA and once the guys arrived he asked me to try to start it again so he can see the problem.. voila the car came back to life after two attempts with no other assistance.
AA guys checked the battery which was fine..
He said it might be spark plugs but i changed them last july and have done 8k miles since then.
I'm at a loss what happened and kinda stressing that it might happen again and that it might be something serious?

Sounds like an immobiliser/alarm problem which righted itself- however it may return.

it may be the EIS electronic ignition switch

they can act like that it happened to me a few years go

they are prone to giving up the ghost for no reason
