My merc coupe has a bullet wound in the rear window - what are you saying Howard?!

If it is like my mini aerial on the same wing it could easily be sited just above the rear cluster, but why you would choose there is beyond me!

Slim chance that someone might have put a key alarm on it since the car is 17 years old

ITS A DENT THAT HAS BEEN FIXED !!!!

Doesn't matter what he says, i guarantee you that is the cause ...

How does he know there was a hole there that has been filled ? you can't get access to the inside of the panel there , and if he is telling you that because he can see the filler , then whatever it was , it hasn't been repaired properly !!!

Howard - it must be great being you.

A car you've never seen, a seller you don't know and yet you are still 100% certain what's wrong with it - perhaps you should consider a career in psychic car fault diagnosis :D

Ill second that, was thinking the same you should specilise in 124's :bannana:

You're not wrong !! :bannana:

Come on , lets be sensible, no one (realistically) is going to put an aerial there , it would get bashed and bent every time you were in the boot ...

Being that its a common place for w124 coupes to get bumped ( as its hard to see , next time you drive one, have a look ;) ) this is the likely cause ...

People should just be straight and say 'it's had a bump' rather than BS about 'oh yeah it had an aerial' ..... suuuuuuuuuure it did ......

I'm no w124 expert but i can smell BS when its present ....

not that uncommon to position early phone aerials there - uniterrupted signal from all 4 sides and a lot easier than roof mounting.

Could also be a keyhole for an alarm as previously mentioned

Anyway, it doesn't matter. Nobody here bought it - much like every other Merc that gets advertised on eBay. The same old crowd sit around ripping it to pieces whilst having no intention of parting with any money :D

I'm not ripping it to pieces at all , i said it was nice .... i like it .. rest of the car looks lovely though , great colour , i just commented that i would prefer the lighter leather ..... i'm not going to buy it because , as you may be aware , i own one already ...

Just extremely doubtful as to whether it is a key hole / aerial / etc etc etc , whatever you wish to believe ... personally it would be nice if people told the truth , but as we all know ( and probably why no car gets bought off Ebay by anyone here ) Ebay is full of b***sh***ers , who will tell you anything to sell their car :D

I have no doubt that when i sell my car , it will get picked to bits...

I bought a car off ebay once too! :D But obviously I went to look at it first before buying, it's just a handy place to advertise if you ask me, reaches more people!

Maybe if we were interested in buying we wouldn't all be so nit picking about it, surely almost all cars have their faults or "characteristics," and so we just weigh up the pros and cons and bid or offer accordingly. But it is interesting to hear peoples opinions, as I've learnt a few things to look for and be really cautious in future.

If it was a minter I'm sure it would have been alot more expensive! I know my car isn't concours but that's why I know it isn't worth an awful lot and anyone buying a used car will know they have the odd ding or scratch....but on the whole, it 'ain't bad....;) I just won't tell you lot when it's on ebay, dread to think what you'd say about mine! :D

Im shure one of us will find your car Gina if you ever sell it

I bought my car off ebay - sort of... the vendor got precisely 0 bids so I got in touch and made a (conditional) lower offer than the buy-it-now which he gratefully accepted. Following an MB indy inspection and a test drive the deal was done.

Its very easy to be suspicious about older cars but sometimes what you see really is what you get.

I bought my car off eBay :)

yep and you'll probably (justifiably) get the **** when people call you a lying bu**shi**er

Andy

Ha Ha !!

I actually bought my car off Ebay too :o

People won't call me a lying bulls***er , because I wont tell lies when people ask about it , the Mercedes enthusiast world is too close knit , you'll always get busted ....
