Just finished my custom fiberglass subwoofer enclousure. I'm into my music and just felt that the Mercedes sound system needed that little bit more.
I decided to make and enclosure that was not to big and in the way. I chose to use an Image Dynamics 10" Q series subwoofer. Its a very musical sub and sounds just right, not too overpowering.

Comments welcome,

Wow, that looks great, fancy making me one? :)

You could do with some type of bar over the sub so you dont damage it with items in your boot.

Well-done good job...:bannana: How did you finish it off? Is the front MDF? Did you have to strengthen the fibreglass at all? I am thinking I could do something like that but I need to house 2 x JL W3's...

Very neat job-well done. With a small enclosure like that did you think of a tuned port in addition to the speaker?

Very nice, I trust that you lined the inside with felt, to absorb the sound of the cone going back, It gives a much tighter bass, if it is air tight that will double the usable wattage. Bass reflex speakers have no where near the output of a sealed one

Also did you work out the volume for the enclosure? makes a differene too...:)

Back in the 70s I fitted two Yamaha NS1000 speakers enclosures and a 100w class A Yamaha amp and an inverter into a Jag XJ6

I only ever used it once for ½ a mile as I could not think where I was going

you should ALWAYS! have a sub working in the correct enclosure (volume)
as other wise you will over time end up burning out the voice coil, and depending what sort of input/gain you are putting in from the amp - you could end up causing capping which will also damage your sub/specker(s)

very nice idea tho!

The box is sealed and the baffle is 18mm mdf. The fiberglass is about 8mm thick and possibly thicker in other parts of the box.

The volume of the enclosure is about 18litres, I think that's about 0.6cuft. I chose the IDQ 10" because it can play in enclosures as small as 0.5cuft.

As for selling the boxes, I'd have to make another and work out costs.

Very nice job and right out of left field as they say.....I have a private plate...... M11NHS ....... which I'm thinking of letting go......any suggestions about where I might place it?

Thanks
