Summer 2015 European Grand Tour

Lwb R won't quite fit in a low car park bay as neatly as a 911 GTS will...

Day 9 - Vienna / Budapest
Late checkout from Vienna followed by an easy 80mph cruise through the unremarkable flat Austro-Hungarian landscape until the elevation changes began with Budapest on the horizon. 35mpg for this leg overall.
Would have much preferred to have arrived 30 minutes sooner and averaging 25mpg - am missing the autobahns already.
Arrived to 38 degrees in Budapest...
Real goulash for dinner in downtown Budapest!

Day 12 Budapest / Graz / Obertilliach
Early (for us) departure from Budapest for return to Austria with an easy 80mph cruise until a tyre pressure warning brought a temporary halt to proceedings.
Slow puncture on the OSF, so pulled off the motorway at the next exit and found some shade in a quiet street to fit the space saver.
Much interest from local Hungarians passing by on their way to the nearby lake to cool off from the heat, lol.
Limited to 55mph or so from this point onwards by the spacesaver, so consequently averaged 40mpg to lunch in Graz, Austria, for the best Wienerschnitzel of the tour, so far.
On to Obertilliach in time for a delicious dinner & overnight stay in a favourite guesthaus with superb views.
Temporary spacesaver wheel did a great job of keeping us mobile and continuing on our journey for hundreds of miles, without having to change our plans, call for outside assistance, or waste time sourcing a replacement tyre within a limited few miles of the puncture - a far superior experience compared to runflats which make no sense at all to me with their severe limitations when you need them, combined with their expense & unpleasant characteristics all the rest of the time when you don't.
Well over 2000 miles covered on the trip so far, at 26mpg average overall.

So, who else can name this 'mystery' car, evidently still being used in Hungary, but not seen in daily use on UK roads for decades?
Higher res to follow if you can't recognise it from this:

Day 13 Obertilliach / Grossglockner High Alpine Road / Munich
Early (for us) departure from Obertilliach to get the puncture repaired in the village before the garage closed for lunch.
See the new James Bond movie SPECTRE trailer from 1min onwards for where we were, except imagine it without the snow, and a lovely sunny 27C instead.
Superb while you wait service completed by the local garage owner who also worked on the cars for the movie crew, and back on our way within 45 mins with our tyre expertly repaired & refitted for 40 euros, all in good time for lunch high up on top of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
Stunning views on this superb toll road from 8000ft up in the high alps, with plenty of gorgeous cars also enjoying the flowing bends.
Averaged 25mpg climbing up & over the high mountains, then 35mpg for the remainder of Austria, before becoming reacquainted with the autobahns of Germany :)
Arrived in good time for dinner, followed by some beers in Munich courtesy of the extensive Mercedes E-Class taxi fleet :)

One of these badboys no?

Good guess, but even rarer than those...
Here's a slightly higher res version of the 'mystery' car :)

Day 14 Munich / Sinsheim / Frankfurt
110mph autobahn-ing up to Sinsheim for a tasty lunch in the town centre, followed by a re-visit to the superb
Auto & Technik MUSEUM SINSHEIM | Car & Technology Museum
Where else in the world can you go inside a Tu-144 Concordski, see The Blue Flame land speed record car, plus Le Mans, F1, & hundreds of classic cars, all in one place?
Followed by busy Friday evening autobahn-ing up to Frankfurt, but still arrived early, for another delicious dinner :)

Even an SLR Stirling Moss, Brabus Mercedes 800E, C111, or W125 Rekordwagen is really slow compared with this beauty at Sinsheim Auto & Technik:
