T CUT "Glass" Polish

My Volvo's got a lightly scratched windscreen, from somebody's diamond ring (not mine!). Will any of these polishes help?

I can get hold of some diamond suspension, and polishing cloths, but an off-the-shelf product would be easier for any number of reasons.

Are you going to use it on the outside of the windscreen? I am always loathe to put any type of polish onto this glass, but it is probably me being old fashioned.

I wonder what a 'surface' scratch is? Is it something solely on the surface of the glass, or is it a scratch? I always think of a scratch as something which penetrates the surface, but only very slightly?

Those white marks your describing should come off easily. I would never suggest a razor blade is a cheaper option.

Good luck with the repair,
John

If tou run your nail across the glass and there is no obstruction than that is a surface scrtach...

I still have not got round to testing this T Cut Glass polish yet on the CL.

After seeing this thread I went to Motor World and bought some.

One application left the windscreen clean enough, but didn't appear to make any improvement to 17 years' worth of tiny surface chips and ingrained wiper tracks.

John - if only I shared your wisdom. It was only after I'd started to apply it to the single most important area of glass on the car that I thought: "Hmmm - what if this damages it?"

As long as it clears the cr*p of my windows completely (looks like dried shampoo not rinsed off in time on a hot day by previous owner) which normal domestic glass cleaner will not remove. I have no scratches/chips that I am looking to improve.

I'm inclined to agree with John that a razor blade (or paint scraper) might work better than a 'wet' cleaner in this case.

I'll try the T CUT first to see if it improves anything but it that fails then I shall get the razor blade (s) out as per Glojo's advise...:)

I reckon that's 'hot wax' spray from a petrol station jet wash. If you get that stuff on your windows, it's a real bu99er. Having said which, A decent glass cleaner and elbow grease will get it off.

My local MotorWorld turned into a SPAR or something! :(
Mine obviously hasn't, they stung me for nigh on 60 notes for a new battery last sunday. Would have to happen on a sunday!!!

I used it again last week. It does make the glass very smooth to the touch - i.e. feels like paintwork does after its been properly cleaned, polished and waxed.
Not sure how long it lasts though
