Looks good , but whats happened to the rear diffuser on the bumper? Looks like its been through the wars

It's just a bit err grey, the bits showing dark are still drying, I may need to add some plastic refurb stuff to my shopping list!

To be fair buddy, i wouldn't be able to, unless i saw the car. This is due to the fact i would need close up shots of panels. From those photos all i can say is:

1)Tyres need degreasing and scrubbed as that would clean them perfectly, and then a tire dressing like,'gloss it', applied for a matte finish.

2)The rear diffuser needs re colouring as its a little tired looking.The company i have suggested for this are very good!

3)The exhausts, but we wont go there as you have already said.

4)The small chrome strips around the car need polishing.

5)The bumper just behind the rear drivers wheel looks discoloured too, so could do with drying/polishing? i don't know as it might be wet?

To be fair though cleaning a car perfectly, is giving every individual part of the car its own:

-degreasing (spray degreaser or snow foam or both:thumb:)
-rinsing
-claying
-rinsing
-shampoo
-rinse
-drying
-polishing (whether it be by hand or machine polishes with 1 to 5 stages)
-buffing
-sealing (whether with carnauba wax, sealents or protective dressing)
-final inspection with a spray sealent

Once these stages are done on all parts of the car, then it will be perfectly clean.

I followed the clay kit destructions which said rub off with the cloth provided then polish.
I should've rinsed and shampooed after.
My Polish said on it stage 2 polish, so I may have skipped polishing stages 1,3,4,5!
Apart from that I am very happy with the overall finish, but feel that a machine polish would give a more liquid shine.

I only clayed and Porter Cabled my C32 once. I spent 14 hours on it in one weekend, and didn't even do the wheels/tyres, glass or interior. I am slow though.

Not yet picked up the courage to ask Mrs D permission to do it again. Not that I'm a mouse or anything. :D

yes it is a long process, but very enjoyable when you have the time with no other worries.:thumb:

Hi there bud!
Claying is simple just a little time consuming.Heres my perfect claying guidlines:

-Degrease and rinse the car first before you clay, to remove all the excess grime.

-Then break a piece off (you'll get 5-6 pieces out of a bar) and run it under a warm tap, untill you can shape, and flatten the clay in the palm of your hand.

-Then lubricate the panel you are claying, with a lot of quick detailer to get a nice slick surface between the clay and the panel.This will stop it sticking.

-Then rub the panels in a uniformed fashion removing all contaminants.When it becomes really easy to slide the clay over the panel, then you have taken all oxidations out.

-After this move to the next panel.Remember once you have done the paint you can use the same piece of clay for the windows and then lastly the alloy wheels.

-Once done shampoo the car at this stage as it will remove any excess sticky clay, leaving the surface lovely and slick.

NOTE: This is one of the most worth while stages to do when cleaning your car.The difference in feeling and looks are awsume. You will only have to do it twice a year, so though around £20-30 a bar seems alot for clay, its gona last!!
 
The claying went smoothly after some trial and error, it would just appear that My polish was a stage 2 polish, which I now assume would be part of a 5 part process.
Car is as smooth as a baby's posterior, so must have done something right!
 
sorry just had a look back a and saw you megs stage 2!

This is completly fine to use on its own as its just a glaze.There is only 3 stages and thats:

Stage 1-Abrasive polish/compound for light scratches
stage 2-A glaze polish to refine the stage one and bring clarity and depth.
stage 3-Its just a liquid wax.

The polish would of been fine bud.
 
So Clay does part one in effect and the rest was correct!

Well these are my basic washing stages in order:

-Apply acid free wheel cleaner to dry wheels.
-leave for 10/15mins.
-Apply degreaser to lower half off car, door shuts, arches and tyres.
-Scrub wheels using ph neutral shampoo and various wheel brushes.
-Scrub arches and tyres with large brush.
-Jet wash wheels.
-Snow foam car and leave to dwel for 10/15mins.
-Jet wash car.
-Clay bodywork, windows and alloy wheels.
-Shampoo car with ph neutral shampoo.
-Jet wash whole car.
-Dry with 70/30 towels and warm air blower.

Then obviously you will be moving onto you polishing, maybe correction and protections stage for paint, glass, door seals, exterior trim, exterior lights, exhausts, alloys, arches and tyres.
 
Would look at the Meguires range used them for abit now & always does the job body window cleaners the wife thinks the window cleaner is good as she nick it of me for the house windows lol... Meguiar's UK

No kidding! Am not buying an iPhone if it makes my spooling that bod lol :thumb:

All will be ok in a few months, as iPhone OS 4 has a spell checker!
