Hi Guys,
Just thoght I would say thanks to the various threads on the above subject. I took delivery of 4 x 75 mm chrome AMG style wheel caps which I purchased off of amazon, (photos to follow, gota wash the wheels and car first ). I got these to replace the original blue laural leaf wheel caps which were starting to de-laminate.
Replacing the caps was a genuine 5 min job, I used my battery drill and drilled a small hole close to the center of the caps. I then screwed in a self tappping screw about 5 mm and simply pulled out the cap with a pair of pliers, thus ensuring no damage to the wheels and took away the requierment to remove the wheels in the first place .
I adjusted the back spring on the new caps as advised on a previous thread, then pushed the new caps in place.
I hope the non genuine caps will be ok, they where not that expensive so if I need to by genuine MB parts I wont have lost much.
Tanz.
