Obviously I have that 'feel good factor' everytime I go to the car, drive it, park it etc! But I was cleaning it on the drive and a young lad walks past with his Dad. They can't see me as it's a black ML with tinted rear windows, but the lad says "Dad, why can't we have a car like that?". (Dad was silent) :)

Makes you smile and realise the hard work to afford a car like yours was worthwhile.

I remember the same happening to us when we'd just bought the Voyager. Filling up in the Petrol Station with a Sharalaxy next to us. Little lad is looking at the Voyager and sneaks a peek inside. Soays to his Dad - why couldn't we have had one of those - Dad's response - hopefully we will next time. Made us feel really good too.

Feel proud chuck ;)

At the age of 21 i got my 1st merc, i remember saving up for it (long hours at sainsburys), and when i went to a wedding and i poped out, i could see all the wispering, then my cousins telling me that they thought i was a drug dealer to afford such a car, just goes to show what jelosy can do. now im 23 and have 2 mercs! so guess what they will say now?

It's not so satifying when your neighbours key it because they are jealous, though :(

I remember having my Dad's Jag Sovereign for a couple of weeks when he went to Australia. I was 22 at the time, living in London, it was amazing the reaction that got.

When I was filling up at Tescos in Brent Cross this guy in a Merc CE said to me, 'Bl**dy **ll you must be doing alright!'

What was even better was the look on my bosses face when I rolled up at work and handed in my notice, he thought I won the pools or something! Only reason I quit was to go back to Uni to do a Masters.

When people ask whos cars they are i say it my next door neighbours, or they assume its my dads, but the plate is a give away if they had half a brain.

I always park in the staff car park at uni as it has more space as opposed to the student car park which is crammed has no cctv and the od chav opens the door a bit wide or cant hadle the BHP on the chaviler. no one ever questions me and its a wonder how i get away with it. I even took my lectuer for lunch one day, (as a bribe to up my grade!) and she walked over to some run down cancer infested metro and i just stood and looked on, the worst thing is i thought that was her car, but she thought that was my car when i poped the boot of the merc she thought i has stolen it!

some people wonder how a student can afford a mercedes let alone 2, even i wonder how i can afford both of them.

but im thinking of selling both to get my ultimate the king of kings S-Class

I get different kind of comments. More like: What did you buy that big old thing for? LOL

I told my boss however that I now had a Mercedes for tooling round town to save wear and tear on my Toyota and he asked Oh, a "C" or "E"?
No, S-Class I said. He went silent :-) No need to tell him it's ten years old HAHA

I was only twenty, when I somehow managed to afford a three year old Jaguar XJ6, it was bright red with black leather.

One day driving home from work, I was followed for a few miles by a traffic police car, eventually they pulled me over.
The female officer asked my name,( my middle name is my fathers christian name ), the asked if my father had given me permission to drive his car. I replied my father drives a Capri, they were not convinced.
They followed me to my parents house where I produced my documents, and my father confirmed it was my car, and that he did own a Capri.

They even commented that I was to young to own such a car.

Your neighbours are probably making themselves feel better by assuming you work for Mercedes, but don't actually own one. "mmmm, but that ML350 is still there". Money laundering then?

My neighbours are all quite nice (to my face). One said, "so how you getting on with the Merc?" I replied, yeah good thanks. "So what is it then, a Jeep or a van?"
    A FREAKING VAN? (no offence to van owners etc, but it's clearly an ML!!!!)

I'm sure I've mentioned it before but I once parked at a customer's site to work on a server there, I told reception that I was parked in a numbered bay, the only one left. The receptionist barked that those bays were assigned and that I'd be clamped if I didn't move. I elected to chance it.

I worked on the server until it was fixed and then left, my car was seemingly untouched so I drove back to the office.

Later I was informed that someone was going to clamp my car but that they were worried it might belong to someone important so they left it :D

*proud* :D

A week earlier I was driving a mk2 astra, that would have skipped clamping and gone straight to crushing I'm sure! ;)

People do judge on appearances and perception. A Bentley was parked outside my house and I thought "ooh blimey..who's that".... for all I know it was Paul Danials.... how intimidating

Ah but have you got rear privacy glass and normal (legal) tints at the front? That makes anything look like a van ;) :D

BTW I don't imagine there is a 'commercial' version of the ML, but there is for most 4x4s (with blanked off rear side windows).

My next door neighbours only have one car, an old diesel Astra. But for a week recently there was a new Bentley saloon parked on their drive - never did find out why?!

That'll be the boss's car?!

And yes as my ML is black with rear tints, it all looks quite solid....BUT THAT'S NO EXCUSE
