That'll need more than t-cut

krikey nick:eek: glad ur ok hun
at least your rust problem is gone:D;)
seriously take care of yourself hun xx

What rust? :dk: That car was in concourse condition, as it says on the Insurance Claim Form!! :D:D

In the end your car did what it was designed for-it protected you well during a large accident. :thumb: Its one of the hidden advantages of owning a Mercedes-Benz which thankfully is not often put to the test. It's why I've had three in a row.:thumb: Glad you escaped relatively unscathed.;)

Whoops. You must stop stacking these green C230K's mate, you'll get a reputation! Go for a different colour this time!

Nice escape. Any you can walk away from etc...

Was there an isolated area of standing water where you span, as opposed to an even overall covering? From perhaps a sunken section or badly drained part? Worth looking into this.

The motorways (and many more roads) in recent years are very bad for these random pools and they can be very dangerous, as you may have discovered yourself today.

It used to be an almost non-existent event to have trouble like this - maybe an occasional onset of speed-related aquaplaning on the smoother surfaces, or when hitting a change of surface. Now, many of the surfaces are atrocious in my opinion (but then aren't many things in this neglected dump now).

If you weren't travelling at an unsuitable speed for the conditions, the rain wasn't exceptionally heavy, and your tyres and car were in good shape, you may have a case to question the safety of what you were driving upon.

WOW that is a mess....glad to hear you're ok -

Bet your gutted, look nice car "pre-crash"

If you get out alright you worry about the car, if you don't get out OK you don't care about the car!!! just the way it is, we have to worry about something.

Hi

Glad you are ok. I am sure your devastated though.

Car can be replaced you can't.

230K

Really bad news Nick - However I think you can consider yourself lucky to be telling the tale with all limbs intact !

Allisons impact resulted in a stay at hospital, and 3 weeks off work!

Just find yet another car :)

How Dare You !! After all the blood sweat and tears spent sorting out your ignition and Kompressor problems. I was livid when you rang me this morning at 8am, just when I had woken from a rather interesting dream involving a number of pin ups.

On a serious note. I was pleased to hear that you are ok and at the risk of being hounded, its only a lump of very strong metal. I have made room to store it while you work out what you want to do with it. Take your time, dont rush as shock can hit you overnight.

Me and Mrs. NW_Merc are both glad you're ok Nick, although you spent alot of time and effort on the car, it is after all only metal and plastic and can be replaced.

It gives you a chance to get a C43 next time round? (Or not as the case maybe :))

Thanks for the kind words one and all! Neck is acheing at the moment but otherwise I'm fine.
Do you want to sell the command...Wil it fit a clk w208???:D:D
I see the vultures are already circling! I currently have two COMAND units suitable for a 208 but depending on what car I get next I might need one of them! :)
Tescos have new pants cheap at the mo.
Two hours in the rain took care of my trousers thanks ;)
Ouch - must of been a lot of water or your tread was a bit on the low side.
There was a tiny bit of standing water which mostly just swooshed under the tyres so I thought nothing of it, clearly what I hit was a bigger patch, much bigger. A friend of mine who lives about 3 miles from where I had the incident had exactly the same thing happen to him at exactly the same place.
Without wanting to scaremonger, may I ask roughly how fast you were going (a wink will do if neccessary!) and what tyres you were on?
Tyres are 205/55/16 Pireilli W240 SnowSport, fronts slightly more worn than rears as the rears were replaced a few months ago. Speed was an indicated 75mph ish and in the outside lane there was little spray and what I estimated was reasonable visibility. I actually slowed down a little a couple of minutes before the incident because some water hit the screen thrown up from a vehicle on the oncoming carriageway and it scared me a bit!
Wow.. thats a huge dent.. just glad you are ok.. another testament to MB.

2nd time too?..
Yeah my previous W202 was totalled (but more serious damage and worth a lot more at the time) and this car is basically only written off if I declare it so (which seems likely to me due to the amount of work I estimate is required vs pre-accident condition).
I have made room to store it while you work out what you want to do with it. Take your time, dont rush as shock can hit you overnight.
Thanks once again Ian, I will drop off some docs with you tomorrow so you can collect.

Depending on the outcome of your inspection and my next choice of car there might well be a lot of parts for sale (new and used) so there could be some goodies for present W202 owners. I've got literally tons of W202 stuff sitting around and if I don't own a W202 any more it will have to go! Will keep you all updated :)

Nick

Sorry to see the damage you spoke about when we talked earlier and sorry you didn't make the visit tonight but main thing is you are OK and it is a shame but the car can be replaced. Catch up with you soon and I'll try and arrange Manchester for after Christmas like I said

Kindest regards
Ian

Ouch, glad you're ok and noone else was involved that's the main thing. Looks like the crumple zone did it's job. Best of luck getting everything sorted out.
