That much water should never be present an a properly maintained "Motorway".

At least you got out in one piece. :thumb:

Hi Nick ...

When the 202 shop opens can i be first in the queue for the Sprintbooster if it's for sale ( and if it'll fit the CLK ) ;)

Get to the back of the Queue Toad!

No point in putting a sprintbooster on your car mate ...

Continental drift is faster than a C240 ...

Hope you're feeling OK this morning Shude, apart from the hassle of choosing and finding a replacement, not to mention making do in the mean time.

W202's will be getting thin on the ground if we leave you two to it much longer! ;)

Firstly I imagine whatever I end up buying as a replacement will benefit from the sprintbooster and secondly a colleague (who is a forum member too and has a 208) asked me "how much for the sprintbooster?" yesterday at about 4pm! You were both too slow!

Neck aches a bit more but otherwise I'm fine, health-wise. Will have to start looking for a replacement asap.

Bad luck Nick. Drove north myself yesterday and conditions were pretty bad. Some sections of these motorways have very poor drainage.

Not much need for the dent free front grille I've got then? :wallbash: ;)

Out of interest, I'm guessing there's no ESP on cars that age? I had a moment a couple of years back, was going to Edinburgh in a hurry in heavy rain, motorway was clear (was very early morning) so was driving somewhat rapidly.

Hit a big pool of water on the M6, came over the bonnet and windscreen, quite frightening for me (and also my passenger!) but the only effect on the car was a yellow flashing light, considering the speed (in excess of 69mph :) ) it was remarkably eventless.

Shut it, nowt wrong with the speed of my car, sure its no AMG, but its by no means slow.

Could be worse, could be pink...

ASR was on W202s until late 1999, replaced with ESP

Just read this! Wow, quite a dent there! Glad you're OK! The car did it's job of protecting you. MBs really are very good aren't they!

ESP replaced ASR but was also an option on quite a few models. The W202 facelift had ASR as standard in a lot of markets but a C43 from the same period would have ESP IIRC.

ASR does half of the job of ESP in that it inhibits ignition to try to prevent wheelspin but only does anything at speeds <50mph. ESP works at speeds above that and I believe it can brake individual wheels in order to keep the car going in the intended direction of travel.

I think had a flash of ASR on the dash but at speeds over 50mph it's basically there for information only. The handbook states that if the orange triangle flashes you should adapt your driving to suit the road conditions. Useful advice! ;)

collected the car this morning, it aint pretty under that bonnet but I think the engine will be ok as it started

Any chance of any pictures? Im kinda fasinated with crash damage...

Hope neck improves mate, and it isn't too much of a hassle - that's the main problem with these things I find, dealing with insurance companies!

Really quite scary that it happened at low speed on decent tyres.

Just taken photos and will post when I get home, with Nicks permission.

This is why unless I am forced to the insurance company are staying out of it.
