That'll need more than t-cut

Have been busy at work and missed this. Glad you are okay Nick, similar damage to Anna's Mercedes recycling lesson.

Yep - sorry to hear of your accident Shude.

I know you were quite attached to your car and had kept it well maintained upto 200k+.

What kind of 208 are you looking for? CLK55s are tremendous value at present and normally come very highly equipped out of the box :)

It looks like half my budget needs to go towards insurance on the CLK430 and CLK55 though, back to quotes from 10 years ago! :(

My present insurer is insisting on a tracker for both of those cars too!

FWIW, I pay just over £300 PA through a specialist insurer arranged with Peter Best - was likewise getting silly quotes at first from almost everyone, some wouldn't even quote (unusual I thought, given that I have no claims/convictions and a good NCD etc?). It is now down as a second car at that price, but it gives an idea of what is possible.

Originally was getting quoted a minimum of £800+ etc - I think most mainstream insurers aren't keen on them.

It *really* pays to shop around on unusal/specialist cars like these, and other than the slightly hefty urban fuel consumption, they're superb value and not that much more expensive to run than regular 208s IMHO.

Try the Post Office of all places .....

I see the barrier has been repaired with a shiny new bit. I'm still waiting for confirmation of how much it's cost...

They'll be in touch soon enough
I've already had *their* insurance company on to me to say that I'm liable for all the repair costs and that they've already contacted my insurance company.

I hoped they would at least have put a small, tasteful plaque on the barrier. Something like "courtesy of Shude, Lancaster" or something. It is my section of barrier after all!

Hi, only just seen this thread...

Sorry to see this, but pleased you're OK.

The car did its job well - saving your life! Good luck in hunting a replacement.

Sorry to hear this Nick. :(

The car is dead , get stripping the bits ( Comand , sprintbooster etc ) out of it before the salvage vultures get to it ... once its in the compound it will be raped for bits even before the insurance company starts negotiating with you ...

Yes glad you ok mate
Thats for sure and they will deny taking the bits.

If you havn't already done so then make sure you write to DVLA to have your cherished number plate put on retention! Do it quick.

I've seen this bad news only now, ok it's not exactly a news but it's for me

I'm really sorry for your nice w202, it's always a shame to see another good Mercedes gone, but it's more important that you are well:)

Someone said that it's better if you'll change the colour for the next one, but these where one black-green and the last were obsidian black, isnt'it?

W208 is a good choice, I'm curious to see which engine you'll choose after the 230k:)

Cheers

Marco

Received a letter from my insurance company this morning, turns out it costs £5653.13 to replace about 5 metres of armco.

I'd like to see the breakdown of costs for that .........

I wonder if that includes the cost of lane(s) closures on the motorway?

And it will be done at night - night rate labour charges, plus arc lighting, many many flashing beacons, anti-collision dampers, cones, hi-viz jackets, matrix sign messages, and the list goes on.

Like it was said above - £50 for materials; the rest in labour and H&S.

Bargain!
