That'll need more than t-cut

Glad you're OK - looks like you had a lucky escape !

You are here to tell the tale - it could have been very different .

In response to Karl's request for the morbid photography here are some pictures.

n2.jpg

The front of the car, nice bonnet shape eh?

n1.jpg

as seen from the side

n3.jpg

notice the chassis leg nearest is 2 inches further back :wallbash: Notice the modified wheel and disk

n4.jpg

This engine actually runs believe it or not.

n5.jpg

the other side of the engine

n6.jpg

Nice tight shut lines, too tight.

n7.jpg

Drivers side shut lines. Bit of a banana here me thinks.

n8.jpg

rear drivers side, I think this may be from a previous ding.

It is obvious that the car hit the barrier passengers side first, then pivoted, caught the drivers side and catapulter the car across the motorway into the hard shoulder. Speaking to the recovery people this morning they said that it was a good job it is a German car, otherwise the driver would be sampling Hospital food.

Is that a limpet ?

Cheers for the pictures, not morbid, just curious as to how well a 2 Star NCAP car performs. Looks like it performed extremely well, no change in the cabin structure and the airbags didnt depoy - correctly.

Some nasty rust going on there Nick, and where may I ask are your Chrome centre caps? :)

Edit: Funny how crap the glue gets on 5+ year old side repeaters, simply tap them and they snap off. (ive done mine, and my Dads W210 twice).

Hey guys, good news the driver is ok, but shame about the car. Actually I passed you while towing it on the motorway just by the Chorley motorway exit in my 210 designo, it seemed like the car I was reading about and slowed down in front of you. I would give a wave but had to take the junction. Not sure if you spotted a w210 acting weird.

Just saw this thread!

Glad you're ok, those puddles can be a nightmare! At least you're all in one piece, and at the end of the day, that's what counts!

M.

Blimey!! Looks and sounds like it could have been really nasty though.

Glad you're here to tell the tale.

Given what happened I am well surprised at how well the car "performed" if that is an appropriate expression.

Shame to see it go to the great car park in the sky....

:(

I've always felt safe in the W202 despite the NCAP rating, i thought it just wasn't safe for a passenger hence the 2 star rating?

blimey - just seen this, glad your are relatively okay. seems like the car acted like the best bodyguard - giving up it's life to protect yours. Respect to the quality engineering.

I keep telling people the 230k engine is strong but no-one listens! :)

I do....thats why I drive one :)

Im very glad that you came out of this unharmed......it truly sounds and looks frightening

Erk - hope you get well soon, not a fun experience.

Car looks to have performed admirably.

So Nick, what you thinking about for your next car, another W202?
I'm considering a W208 this time.

This means two things:

1. I likely need to raise more money in order to buy
2. I will have more parts to sell from both my mods stock and salvaged items

These two items go hand-in-hand so hopefully will know more about my budget soon.

Will get around to cataloguing, photographing and estimating the value of the parts soon (this weekend probably).
