The E63 I now own.

I had to give it a go as soon as I found out how it worked - quite possibly I won't ever use it again, but we shall see.

^ I must try it out sometime. Same as a Race start. Haven't used that yet either.

I went to Saino's tonight, ~4 degrees here, car spun it's wheels in Comfort moving off in D, then again in R, both times with as small a throttle opening as I could provide it. I had to pull forward to a different patch of ground and take a run up as the wheels just span in reverse where I was.

= I don't think Race Start trials are optimal currently.

I am finding the same. LSD on the shopping list.
Out of curiosity, have you got P Zero's on the car?

Yes, yes I have. They don't get on with low temperatures at all well, in my experience. I have a full set of Sotto-zero's on OEM 19's, but have not yet put them on. I clearly should stop putting that off.

FWIW, I used Angie’s SLK55 for a supermarket run this morning. Temp was 1c and it’s on Conti 5P's which are, in my experience, rather more grippy than P-Zeros in cold conditions but it took real finesse on the throttle to pull away without it spinning up and the TC lamp flashing.

I'd almost forgotten how much driving precision these cars can require when on summer tyres in less-than-ideal conditions

The Sotto-zeros you put on the C55 are doing a great job of getting the power down in these horrible conditions, BTW 👍

That’s good to hear- I swapped them on religiously each year and so haven’t experienced P-Zero/sub-5 degree behaviour in an AMG before.
I spoke to DDR, they’ll inspect the vehicle for ~£185, for which they’ll give it a very thorough going over.

I’m inclined to go for it as peace of mind, but am I being overly cautious and a full MB history and the upcoming checks tomorrow associated with the stop-start would be sufficient?

Maybe ask for a written report if required.

Yes, it is indeed slippy out there

MB will provide a quote / job sheet, if they can find the issue.

Get DDR who I guess are undertaking the inspection to provide a written report on anything they find that they feel questionable.
Only thing is that in most cases it will be a matter of opinion.
I think an indie inspection will be more robust, albeit 'looking inside the engine'

Matter of opinion......my front wheel bearings were found to have excessive play when I had PCS inspect the car. PCS felt that these should have been adjusted and were a potential MOT fail.
MB said they were fine but did eventually adjust after much arm flapping

I’d give a strong recommendation to PCS who are a pleasant drive down the A3. Olly and his team know these cars inside and out and I couldn’t think of anyone better suited for an independent inspection if that’s what you’re looking for

Interesting to hear the E has the same comedy traction in the cold as I get in my S. I still have PS3 on the rear and wonder if the PS4S (as I have on the front) will work a bit better.

The Best Mod you can have on your car, the Quaife LSD totally transformed both the CL215 and definateley after Acid performed his Magic on the CL216 :thumb: :)

Why isn't an AMG fitted with an LSD from factory?

It is now. Before it was a way to make more money through options.
