The E63 I now own.

It came as standard on PP models.

Would PCS be the sort of place that would fit a Quaife for the oft-mentioned £1,500?

Yes, they fitted mine to the CL 215. Highly recommended, they could source it from www.birdsauto.com of Iver. who are main suppliers of the Quaife. They fitted mine to the CL216

If you go into there website it will tell you the price, about £900.00 not fitted.

I'm assuming the diff's are the same size so is it simply a case of removing the existing diff and bolting the lsd in its place?

Yes, they will need the car for a couple of days too

I'll get the car inspected, and through the 30 day "hang on, this is a lemon please have it back" period before modifying it. The Quaife is an attractive modification to make I will say, given both my experience of the available traction and testimony of owners on here.

Good job I bought those snow socks. Oh well, 2022 I guess.

Car dropped off for the stop/start investigation.
Mercedes Benz dealers (at least Bromley) are truly terrible at customer service- rude, abrupt, and hugely unwilling to tell you what’s going on. They really let down the brand.

It gets better. When I called they said they would need the car for half an hour to an hour, and did I want 8am or 9am. The lady at reception said they would actually need the car until 5pm today- that’s me walking home then, rather than waiting.
Just got a text saying they will need the car for two working days. WTF?!

Are they all like this, or is Bromley just particularly bad?

I'd be calling them to see if they will work on the car "this morning", not today or tomorrow.
Hopefully you have a camera/tracker that will let you know. ;)

If they are not I'd go collect.

go and collect the car and go elsewhere

i cant think of a plausible reason why the job has gone from 30 mins to 2 days...if they can't book that right, what else will the **** up?

Yes, that's what I thought - but then why tell me it's half an hour to an hour, and ask if I'd like 8-9 or 9-10!?

Did you remember/write down the car's mileage and fuel level at time you dropped off the car? Think you can see where I am going with this.
I know what you're hinting at, but having been around the loop of having stop/start not working reliably being diagnosed many times, it is actually necessary to drive the thing to prove whether it's working or not.
