Anyone any information on the latest windscreen de-icer spray, you spray on before you go to bed and in the morning just clean the screen with the wipers..

If it works what do you do with the rear screen and side windows? Does the ice easily come off with a cloth or leather ?

I've used spray on de-icer, which works instantly. I would think it would stop ice forming if you put it on the night before. My only concern is how corrosive the stuff is on your paint! It does kick up a bit of a chemical smell when you use it.

I wouldn't have thought you had much of a problem though, don't diesels heat up quicker than petrols? I find my screen cleared in about 5-6mins the other morning, just ticking over on my driveway..

No, this is the ONLY disadvantage of having a fuel efficient diesel, because they are more efficient they take longer to heat up. Mine is just upto temperature halfway to work, about 3 miles. Same for the Golf TDi too.

Whereas my c230k is up to temperature by the end of the road.

BTW the night-before stuff has been around for a while and it's not that great. It slides off the glass and by morning it's just as icy. Only takes a few seconds to de-ice the car anyway (if the fan's working ;) )

Ah, well my experience of this does stem from a vauxhall corsa van 1.7D that used to get roasting hot in a matter of minutes, but I guess its not much of a comparrison to a modern merc diesel!

Roy from your title I thought you were talking about "the morning after pill" :D

As for night before de-icer, it works but smears like hell. The windscreen is ok as you have washers to get the stuff off but I had difficultly get the side windows clean  Better just to stick with normal de-icer.

I find using rain-X rain repellant helps, as any ice that does appear in the morning comes off very easily.
