The old girl doesn't want to rev?

With the recent blips of nice weather to enjoy I un-wrapped the old girl (98) R129 SL32O and took it out to clear her lungs but when it was time to give it the boot it didn't want to change smoothly at high revs. Tootling along.. just fine but at full throttle I got a back fire, bit of a delay then it held revs midrange for an un-nerving few seconds before stumbling through the other end only to think twice about slotting into top gear.

I would be grateful for any ideas anyone may have.

Many thanks

Ed

I am not sure if the R129 320 has the same M104 engine that is known to have issues with degradation of the insulation on the engine wiring loom ?

The symptoms sound about right .

doesn't sound too good? it's the last of the 4 gear engines I think. is it a fixable thing?

Thanks for your help

It needs to go on a Star diag machine to check the fault codes and live data. An air mass sensor is about £150 if you have a V6 and that is the cause of your problem

Normally the case I guess, thanks for the posts and we'll see what the box says when its in.

Cheers

Hi, was just wondering what the result was of your findings>?

Regards

Perhaps it was in limp mode due to an earlier fault.
