SL55 AMG
.... it's another!

One of the pulleys bearings went last week so Paul @ EC sorted me out a new pair. Fitted and touch wood with a new Continental supercharger belt fitted today. Hopefully that's enough of belt shredding.

New map uploaded and logging underway. Great spin out for 60 miles in the beast enjoying the new exhaust, supercharger and the whole SL experience. Loving my new wheels, Brabus 20" with Conti's all around with spokes painted black and silver.

Seats go for retrim next week in black and red leather with diamond stitching.

After months of wanting to set it on fire with one thing or another it's running nicely and I love it.

Shame today it wouldn't fecking start for 5 mins.... Light is on so must be another stupid sensor! Wonder if my fuel pump is on it's way. Get STAR plugged into it tomorrow when I get to work.

It's been emotional so far, it's not finished yet but I love it.

Power wise it's brutal, almost slightly laggy compared to the instant spin of the standard charger. But drive it differently to the standard setup and it is shockingly quick.

Had compliments all day in it, which just makes it worthwhile. The exhaust note is perfect so thank you to Imran from TorqueFlow at MSL. The Kleemann with custom Xpipe and silencers into the Brabus setup is beautiful. When we first did it, it was far too loud for my liking. Now it's just sweet.

Massive thanks for Acid, Sarim and Pawel from MSL. Killer Chiller is installed in a great place, Aquamist system installed and the new crank pulley from Weistec etc. Once the mapping has finished looking forward to final figures but circa 700bhp and 700lbs torque at present. More left yet I think! Looking forward to developing this setup.

And Jim, it's your fault I've ordered a NOS kit...... :bannana:

Few pics!

Custom intake, best we can do at the moment!

Killer chiller!

One completely crap Weistec air filter.....!

I saw this being worked on when I was last at MSL, its a nice motor.

Glad your now getting to enjoy it properly.

Cheers pal. Yes I was probably down there at the time too as spent quite a few days down there on the dyno. I would of been the one swearing at it or something like that :D

I've grown to get annoyed with it, but today it all came together and I loved it. That engine, with that charger, with no roof. Awesome.

Car looks great, I too saw this at MSL and it looks great now it's all cleaned up. Wheels look fantastic too.

Please post up some re-trim pics when you have had it done, I would really like to see that.

One question... Why is the air intake sitting over a hot engine, would it not be better routed to pick up outside?

A nice chap who had a similar install was giving the tech a little guidance which was nice to see.

Its easy to become disillusioned when things go wrong, but great when it comes together.

The air filter looks like it has been sucked in on itself.

Mind you, when I changed the blower multi V belt in mine, I got someone to rev it to check it wasn't slipping and the suction was incredible through the intakes.

I love the wheels.

Intake wise it's better than the standard Weistec which sits even further back. I will be seeing what I can do but it's severely limited on the SL compared to the E55 AMG.

No problem on the retrim. Gone for piping and double stitching too.

You probably saw Alx and Pawel fitting the Killer Chiller. Alx had done his already. I was on the dyno with ChrisA's CLS! Pawel did some great fabrication and fitting. Really pleased with that.

John - Yes mate exactly what happened. After 4 dyno runs...... Got a K&N on it at the moment though suspect might have to go for smaller size to stop it sucking in. However miles will tell!

Thanks for the positive comments on the wheels, wanted something different. The 20" wheels are so different to the 19's. Really pleased with them. Probably going to get the barrels powder coated black, and diamond polish the faces instead of silver.

Photo inside of the wheels which isn't brilliant but gives you an idea:

Yeah I get you. Think I saw it with the standard Weistec one on when I was there.

Wheels look superb.... the whole car does actually. :thumb:

Looks awesome with those wheels, how is the ride compared to the 19's?

Looking good and it must be going better than that! How much difference has the killer chiller made? Any timing runs yet?

I think like on ours, air covers up the harsher ride well.

I can't really tell a great difference between the standard 18s and the AMG III 19s I have now - other than it is a bit snappier on the handling.

Interesting that John and makes sense.

I changed from 18s to 19s and I notice zero difference in the ride so I think you could well be right.

looking good BFT, takes time building a beast :)

Cheers all. Looks like crankshaft sensor needs replacing!

Awesome john......yep Jim is a bad influence.

Did the killer chiller make much difference for IAT?

Awesome john......yep Jim is a bad influence.

I'm the bad influence, I think not Mr Hanson, remember that you started everyone off down the Weistec route :D:D:D

Nice work John, can't wait to see the finished results, did you to Trevor at WON for the Nos?

.....did you ? to Trevor at WON for the Nos?

Insert the missing word:

a) go ;)
b) lie down next

Definitely Lee's bad influence regarding Weistec but Jim....you've taken it to a whole new level with the Nitros so obviously........the herd will follow :thumb:

Recovery time is much quicker (few seconds) but IATs are still relatively high. Your blower being smaller should generate less heat so the result might be different.
