The Yellow W123 - Unexpected Restoration!

Well re the chromes I enquired about the price of these back in 2001 and each piece was well over £80... Now they are under £20 each so had to take them up on that... thats if they turn up as some are on back order!

I almost forgot about this thread..

The car was finished months ago... After coming back from that final lick of paint, I refitted all the new/replacement trims, got everything working, did an MOT and then simply put it in the garage..

Unfortunately most of the new chrome trims i talked about above never materialised, only four turned up, the rest are NLA from MB. So ended up using the best of second hand parts I had.

The paintwork was done for next to nothing, so of course is not going to win any concourse ...but its given the car another 10 years at least..
Some of the panel gaps arent perfect either as stig the welder let me down at the last stage... in fact I havent heard from him since he finished the welding...
Anyway, I put the car back together myself, in a bit of a rush, in order to free a ramp back up in the workshop.. but its good enough I think.

I gave the whole car a good polish this weekend and it shines like new...
I think it looks great and will now make much more use of her, really is still a very comfortable car that could cruise all day without a hiccup.

Ill get some pics taken tomorrow weather permitting.

Fear enough but also did you though of painting the centres on the pentas yellow?

Gunmetal grey then , with polished lips

I've only just seen this thread. I normally look for w124 threads. What a fantastic car though. Well done on the restoration.

Thanks, havent actually used the car in a while, must get it out and give it a run... thought about V8'ing it for a while but then the mrs woke me up...

You saw that w123 500ce in candy apple glory red didn't you ? ;)

the one in the states?! yeh there are plenty of V8 W123's around, but i keep coming back to the fact that I have plenty of V8's in chassis that are built for V8's, why play with that...

Because then it would be a real 'sleeper' and you could terrify children at the lights.

560 sec engine would go nicely in that.

You haven't had a project for a while ;)

Nice try Howard :) :)

On my screen resolution Jay's eight cars only fills about a 1/3rd of the signature width.....plenty of room for expansion.

actually there is a project in the pipeline... details soon as and when I get it off the ground, got 90% of the parts i need.
