The Yellow W123 - Unexpected Restoration!

nothing as exciting as the widebody, but still a fair bit of work..

coming soon...details in a few weeks as I still have a few bits to collect before I can really begin.

hi, I just bought my first W123 (1982), literally 2 days ago, on closer inspection I found....rust, much more than expected. My knowledge of cars is-minimal, I know how to drive but that is all.
Could anybody suggest ways to tackle rust (front wings, wheel arches) -ideally without respraying which I cannot afford and which will ruin the original paintwork. is there some "magic" spray? paint? wax?

many thanks in advance and apologies if my question is...bit basic
thank you
tom

I'm afraid that the only way to deal with rust is to either cut it out and weld in replacement metal or to completely replace the panels affected. You may be lucky and find a used front wing in the correct colour but a good quality repair to the wheel arches will inevitably involve time, money and a decent paint job (not a ham-fisted attempt using an aerosol spray).

quite a project here mate. fair play!
