Thinking of buying an SL320

Right, thinking of buying an SL 320.
Prefer a facelift model (96 onward) full MBSH, panorama and soft top plus lots of extras.
I have seen some 96 p plates advertised from £14-20k. What sort of budget should I set myself to pick up a nice clean genuine car?
Also, is this a practical proposition if it is to be my everyday car or am I letting myself in for hastle?

Go for it! I've had my SL320, 98R, for just over a year. Great fun! I paid £20k at a trader, and had an AA inspection to reassure myself beforehand - this resulted in new brakes all round, so it probably paid for itself. I do worry that something big will go bang one day, but they really are very special cars. (And my sympathies to Nick on losing his SL60)

Join the club - i'm currently also looking for a late 129 (preferably a final edition model) or a face lift to say the least from 97 onwards. They are good cars if well maintained and full service history is a must. If you can push for a V8 SL500 as price differecne between a 320 V6 is not a great deal but obviously the cost of parts/servicing will be. I would like one with xenons but not many of them around so may have to do a retrofit if I can find a suitable car that does not have xenons.
