Welding rod is my weapon of choice.....

I use a piece of "net curtain" wire, right thickness, plastic covered and very flexible.

I use a piece of "net curtain" wire, right thickness, plastic covered and very flexible.

I managed to break up all the debris in the channels and gold old henry ate them up, followed by a blow with an air compressor which got most if not all out.
I didn't check to see if it drains properly but the left side drain was clear when poked with a rod.
