So a tint shop near me recently started selling a blue tint to put on windshield . I was thinking about getting it on my C63 coupe but figured I'd get a second opinion from you guys before I spend ££ since this tint isn't cheap. What do you guys think?

Would it pass the plod opacity test?

Apart from that it looks naff.

Personally I don't like it, but if you do that is all that matters. Oh and whether it is legal.

If you wanna pay for a reflection of the sky, go for it.

Personally don't like it at all. Never seen the point in tinting beyond the manufacturers spec. But that's just me.

Does it have any kind of functionality to it? Reducing glare or UV?

It reminds of the windscreens that you'd see on cars a few years back which I assumed were coated.

It blocks 99% of UV

It's similar to the cars that are still built nowadays too. S65 Brabus have a similar look to it, the Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover Sport all have this option when you buy the car. Same with the RS6. But of course its not exactly the same since those are straight from the manufacturer.

The film itself is legal. The law is to allow 75% of light through the windshield and this allows around 85%.

Assuming the existing screen has no effect on VLT itself, of course.

If it has that functionality and essentially will protect the interior I'm all for it. I don't think it looks bad really either, like you say there are manufacturers doing similar so not a tacky modification.

All glass reduces light transmission already. A film applied will reduce it further.

The X5 and A Class photos are just OEM - others prob Photoshopped.

It's the actual tint. It's called a chameleon tint because it changes shade depending on the angle you look at it and how much light hits it. It's not just one solid colour like ordinary tint on side windows

I'm aware of that, windshields need to allow 75% of light through it. If I apply this film it might make it illegal however it would only be by a few %. I've had illegal front door windows on all my cars for years, been pulled over several times and I've been let off every time since it's such a small amount under the limit
