Thinking of selling my CLK55 AMG

Have you not just done this up to near perfect ? why flog it ?

what would you replace it with? looks like a lovely car!

Pistonheads is probably the best place to sell it. Though from your link showing the result of your efforts, do you want to? :)

Hello

Piston Heads probably best given the car it is.

Looks nice so should find a buyer relatively ok.

What are you thinking of swaping for

I agree - seems a shame to have spent so much time getting it how you want it, to not enjoy it a bit - but I sort of know where you're coming from.

What do you have in mind for a replacement?

I can't recall the specifics of your car exactly (mileage/history/age etc) but I'm sure it'll be one of the best around. What makes this tricky is that there's quite a range of prices for CLK55s. I've seen some complete wrecks in the £5-6k region (rust all over, 120k+ miles, no extras (COMAND/Xenons/PDC etc), several outstanding faults, poor history etc) and likewise some silly prices on others (tatty private cars and £10k dealer cars, even LHD ones for well over £10k etc).

So I'd think you'd be looking towards the high-thousands, I'd guess maybe £8/9kish if there's genuinely no rust or bodywork issues, recently serviced, new tyres, no faults etc - which I think your car has

I've spent a fair chunk on mine recently - and I'm about to buy a new set of tyres (~ £500), so it's going to stand me in considerably more than what I paid for it, but I was aware of most of this at the time of purchase. On the +ve side, there should be little to no expenditure for the forseeable future - zero rust, fully refurbed wheels, new tyres, recently serviced, new discs/plugs etc.

Best of luck with the sale and naturally I'd be keen to hear how it all goes :)

£20 cash money :D

Seems such a shame to sell after getting it looking so spotless!

This thread is a bit déjà vu for me.....

I thought this would be a keeper for you?

Honestly...the thing is too fast, I am going to lose my licence. While I am no stranger to powerful cars having had TVR's, the way they go about they business is different. The Griff 500 was all about blasting away from traffic lights but at high speed was quite unstable and no fun, the Merc is all about high speed cruising and the trouble is 70 feels like its standing still and just ticking over. While the Griff would leave it for dead away from the lights, the Merc is sensational high speed - too good!

Plus I get bored by cars and am always changing :) and I also run a Land Rover Discovery so having 2 cars that do 20 mpg is a bit silly...and as much as I admire the Merc the Disco is just the best family car ever so that's staying.

Then again I took the Merc out last night and it was fabulous :D and thought...perhaps not

Just bought mine and delighted with it - it has the rot in the arches problem that seems to afflict most but I had a rough idea how much it would cost to sort and paid accordingly for mine - although I'll wait and see how Will's bodyshop sorts his out!

I've owned many cars and get bored very easily and drift from V8's back to turbo cars every year or two - however this is a very impressive car!!!
