Thinking of selling my R172 SLK55 AMG

Yes, didn't want the stress or run the risk of being robbed!
I was the same. I'm here on my own at the moment and didn't fancy anyone coming to view the c43. I paid a deposit on a cla shooting brake diesel, a year old but during the fortnight I was waiting, the dealer was messing me about, I decided the mileage on it was too high and I didn't really want a dpf for my low miles I do so I cancelled.
I have had 3 c classes so fancied a change. There are some real bargains on Gla's at the moment but it looked just like a hatchback to me. I started looking at bmw x1. I'm limited with the width of my garage door as to what I can choose.
Bmw offered me more for my car than Mercedes did and were a lot nicer to deal with.
While I was looking at x1's, a bmw dealer had some 69 reg X2 2 litre petrol models with only 30 miles on so bought one of those. It had over 30% off of new price and I got a five figure cheque back. The X2 is better than I thought it would be so very happy. It is a lot better than the 15 reg bm I had a few cars ago.

Not though about a BMW, my neighbour just traded her 535 convertible in for an X2 because of a hip problem, She is now wishing she hadn't, especially as her husband traded his big Vauxhall for a nearly new Porche MecaneS

I never thought that I would go back to bmw as when I see them on the road, they never really tickle my fancy but because the merc dealer was messing me about on the shooting brake (he didn't know where the car was days after I'd paid the deposit, then nearly 2weeks later it still wasn't ready) I had chance to look at other things and there was a bm dealer across from the merc garage so I had a look around them then went online. There are loads of nearly new c200 estates at good prices but I thought I would be comparing it to the v6.
I was a bit too fussy with the c43, I didn't like parking it and leaving it anywhere thinking it might get pinched etc and the new one isn't black. Hooray 😊.
Glad your sale went well for you

Thanks, money in my bank account , awaiting driver to take it away. Totally stress free. :)
Am already looking at cars for sale  the more cars I look at the higher I think I should budget:eek:
Just wondering, is this your car? MERCEDES SLK55 AMG 5.5 V8 2DR CON -

Lovely! They do seem to have some very nice cars for sale!

Good luck with the new house and the next car search! :)

Right website , wrong car , they also have one shown without pics , same price ! Paid £1 k less than that from a MB dealer in Feb 19 and with 2 years T1 warranty. But agree all their cars look very good and good luck to them if they can make a good profit on mine .
Am trying to keep telling myself I was sensible to move it on before it was out of warranty , not that I ever had any problems at all with it, just didn't want to risk an expensive repair just after moving house.

Meant to say the one without the pics ( which will no doubt appear today as car only delivered there yesterday) is mine . I will try not to look :(

Its painful isn't it! I sold a Saab a long time ago and then happened to go passed the dealer and spotted it up for sale at a FAR higher price than I got as a trade in! It's how it works of course, but it still hurt a bit :)

The markup is not a problem for me , just not having it parked on my drive

I’m off to the Lake District today for a long weekend break but what the wife doesn’t know yet is the accommodation that I’ve booked is just around the corner from a small ‘specialist dealer’ with whom I’m going to have a chat about potentially selling my car. I’ve got all the documents for the vehicle nicely concealed in the other car. It was pure coincidence about the accommodation and the the dealer, honest

I think Parkway Specialist should add a PS. at the bottom of their website. We buy low mileage immaculate conditioned vehicles EXCEPT A45’s. Ah well their loss. :)

Am missing my SLK :(. Not helped when my wife's 54 plate RAV4 3 door Auto which has always been 100% reliable , like her previous 2 , decided to break! The drive selector lever decided to disconnect itself from the gearbox when we were parked 75 miles from home on Sunday. Amazingly the AA turned up in 10 minutes, got us going by moving the gear selector manually while I kept my foot on the footbrake, drove home without turning the engine off or reversing. A new kit with cable and fittings on order from Toyota ( circa £370 ) and car off to local garage for fitting plus new front discs and pads on Thursday, cost likely to be circa £650 . Should have sold the Rav:wallbash:

I got a good offer from a dealer in the Lakes which I’m happy with but I can’t decide wether to sell or not. I usually take my cars off the road during winter so it would only be parked up. I think lockdown has messed my head up with cars 😆 I use to be indecisive but now I don’t know :)

Am not sure exactly what car we ( I  ) will need ( want ! ) after we have moved nearer to Cardiff so plan on keeping the cash from the SLK so I can buy something in the New Year . Mind you am already looking on line , mainly at totally unsuitable cars , only common factor seems to be V8 engines and AMG in title , hopefully this madness will pass:rolleyes:

I’m of a similar mind, even though mine is only the lowly 350....what ever I look at is twice the price and half the spec...

I know the feeling , had we not just been in the process of purchasing a very over budget house I would probably have kept it another 2-3 years at least

I’m afraid it won’t pass 😂 I’m been out looking today.

I also fancy the E350d V6 which I’m currently looking at on autotrader.

It’s all driving me nuts:)
