The three cars you've got your eye on are all very different, so hard to compare like for like, although the BMW 6 and SL are closest. I've driven both Z4 and SL from CCC and found I would not be able to live with the Z4. Far too hard riding and I have to say "basic" inside - it didn't feel "special" at all. Other than out right speed and handling (it was a Z4M!) I felt there was nothing else to recommend it. The SL is one of my favourite cars - easy to live with, comfortable, fast enough (SL350) and seemingly very well put together with a very nice interior. Folding metal roof was OK, but rattled a lot when up. :(

I've been a passenger in a 645 and loved it! Beautifully made and styled and a real "feel good" car to me. Very comfortable to sit in and even at speed with the roof down, not much buffeting, thanks to the integral wind deflector. Not sure if it's worth what it costs, but that's down to individual taste and resources I guess! For me, it would be the SL every time. Just a side point, last week I enjoyed a Porsche Cayman for a week and that car blew me away! Performance, handling, quality it was all there! Maybe a Boxster (same car but with soft top) is worth a look?

Thanks.....I do like the look of the Boxter, But when you see one going passed with the roof down you cant help think "what a tosser" haha.....not sure why as it doesnt happen with any other cars!

I know what you mean! One REAL negative with the Porsche I found was the reaction of other drivers! Agressive doesn't begin to describe it! Pure hatred in the faces and NO WAY anyone lets you out of junctions!!! Wonder why....

I know you probably wouldn't consider it for half a second, but I have to put in a good word for my Saab convertible! :) Excellent twin turbo engine, very comfortable, GREAT with the roof down which we do very often and totally anonymous! No-one reacts badly to it! Maybe they feel sorry for me! hahaha!!!

I do like the Saab convertibles, and strangely I really like them in white!
I also like the look of the A4 convertibles……oh too much to choose from!

Being 25 it may be a car with looking at in 5-10 years though….I end up looking like im driving “dads car”…haha

25... what a great age! Sigh.. :D When I was 25 I was well into Alfa Romeo and had various ones from Sprints to Spyders! What lovely cars, albeit VERY unreliable! I then went mad and bought a Trans Am! LOL!! If I'm honest, my dream car is still a C5 Corvette, but at £20K for a 2000, I might have problems convincing SWMBO that a toy costing that much is a good way to spend our dosh!!! :D

My dream car...

Darn it!!! Now I've got to have THE talk with wifey to explain where the C5 is going to go in the drive! :D :D

haha....i love the old corvet stingrays....why not go for one of these?

Hmmmm!!! Yummy!! :D

My first experience of an American car was in one of these when I was about 11! A friend of my Dad's had a US car import business and I would go along and look at all the wonderful cars! Corvette Stingray was the first I rode in and I think that experience has lived with me for life! Also enjoyed a Mach 1 Mustang and Z28 Camaro (the first one). Think my love of US cars stems from then! Although, I hated most of the late 80's rubbish that came out of Detroit!

A car like the Z28 I rode in..

And the Mach 1...

Memories are made of these.... sigh... :)

Yeah. me too! I've wanted a Corvette for as long as I can recall and only now can I really afford to indulge in these kind of toys! :)

Toss up now between an SL500 and a C5 Corvette.... (nice dilemna eh! :) )

Not a bad position to be in i grant you!
Although the corvette looks so good, i would go for the SL500!!

My heart's with the Vette and my brain the SL! :D Both stonking V8s.....
