Now, I love the C63 and rate it very highly. I also think that my previous C63 was one of the better ones in existence ....even, dare I whisper it, compared to a DR520.

However, I never once thought of my car as something worth in excess of £70k (the top price for a new DR520)....it is still a C-Class after all!

However, the person selling this particular example has, quite frankly, lost the plot!

If I knew they woul crisply sell it I would have bought one myself back in May. But even at 74K for the estate I thought it was madness, almost 20k above a standard C63 with similar options and PPP.

the badge add on under the AMG looks like a halfords special.

No way I would think a C class with a big engine is worth that. Some are now in the £30K mark and thats simply going to lose so so so much.

And when I fitted the same Brabus B63 kit to my C63 that the DR520 has, it produced all of 4hp more than the car did in standard form! Fantastically effective R&D for your £30k extra over a standard C63 (or even £10k if you paid list for a DR)!

Obviously, and to back the original point of getting a well R&D'd car, the standard car is so effective that the DR520 special is just not worth it (oh...and the leather used on the sests on the DR520 also isn't nappa...it's the cheaper courser stuff ) I guess thats exactly the reason why they can't shift them!

Oh, didn't I mention this in a thread back in May this year when it came out...and here we are in December with MB having no trouble shifting regular C63's yet unable to shift the handful of DR's. Oh deary me....that'll teach MB UK (useless as they are) to do something off their own back

DR's will command no premium whatsoever when the 'proper' genuine-AMG upgraded version comes out in a few months!

That is a crazy mark up, for that price it needs to be inclusing the registration plate also.

Overall, I would much prefer to have had Palmball's old car, much nicer especially the interior.

Yes, the new owner, if you are reading, has a relative bargain. And with the choice exhaust 'tweaks' it made a fair bit more power too (although I never got round to dyno'ing it in the UK again )

Yes, I was in agreement with you on the C-Class....I was just saying that for the extra the DR520 is, you get very little 'R&D' that actually effective!

Indeed, I can tell you after looking at and Aston and Maserati that the little C was a much more 'rounded' car....the salesman at the Maserati dealer even suggested that the car he was trying to sell would not have had as much spent on the whole car as the C had on it's radio lol! Honest, wasn't he!

Some cars flop e.g. S class drops like a stone but rarer sort after models rise. The trade runs in the family so Iv got s gd understanding. However i didn't expect it to rise up this much

Mate to be honest, I would have had yours over a 520 any day of the week. I think what you did by pushing the boundaries and try so many different and interesting ways to make the car the best it can be was a real credit to you.

As for this 520 at this price.....is this fella having a laugh!

A DR520 is not a Black...it's not even approved by AMG in Germany! It's a UK special edition with aftermarket kit fitted to it.

Theres nothing wrong with that, indeed I'm not averse to adding aftermarket bits myself, but such cars do not tend to command any significant premium over the car that they are based on.

A Black series is a factory limited edition model, available in various markets and has actual engineering and stylistic enhancements.

I'm not saying that the DR520 isn't worth a bit more than a normal C63...it is, but it ain't worth this much more and in the long term will not be recognised in the same way as a Blackie would be.

You guys always have these meets down in the tropics (the south)....I'm on another planet up here (maybe the same one that guy selling the DR520 is on)! However, as my Porsche can travel at intergalactic speeds (as you'll see whilst watching it ease away from you ) I think I can make that in Jan!
