So, what do you do?

When it comes to new tyre do you buy...

There shiould be an option for "Budget Brand that berforms like a Premium brand"...

We all want those.....

LOL.

I do not think I can edit and add that option now.

I always fit the exact make/model the car came with.

No point in compromising on things like tyres or brakes.

You can always improve things....ESPECIALLY tyres and brakes...

Anyone want to gotr back to 80-series crossplys?

As they are the sole thing between me and the road, I always fit premium branded MO1 labelled tyres

The cheapest possible - they're all the same aren't they:dk:.

Your cheapest probably cost more than my premium :D

Apart from those who will only fit 'premium' tyres regardless, most of us can't really vote, I suspect, because circumstances vary so much. I wouldn't argue against the fact that, by and large, more expensive tyres are more likely to perform better than cheaper tyres , but both test results and review websites suggest that this is not always the case.

Personally, my greatest priority is wet performance, but it is not my sole priority by a long chalk. If I had a C63 I used only for driving like a lunatic in summer, which I never took out in the rain, wet performance would not be first.

But you are compromising on tyres by doing that!
When tyres are improving year on year you replace them with tyres that are years behind the latest technology?

Mid-range for me. Wet performance and low road noise are my main reason for buying.

Poll going well. Is interesting to see the results and peoples thoughts.

84% leaning towards Premium brands.

Best not start a poll on which make ;-)

Thanks for answering poll guys. Will leave it running.

The lesson is: Never put to the public a question that you don't already know the answer to ;) :D

I agree about wet road safety and low noise. I would add braking distance. I do buy Premium brands however, because at my tyre size (205/55 R16) the prices are almost the same.

+1 re: wet grip and noise

That's why I changed from Contis CS2 to Goodyear EGP and went 10mm wider, to 225/40 R18.

Is Goodyear a mid-range?

Not if you check the price!

Definately Premium...

I regularly hear good reports of certain goodyear tyres (F1 in particular) which I'm inclined to believe, but the SUV-specific "Wranglers" shoud be avoided like the palgue!
